Haven't tried it, but I've heard it's good stuff.

That's almost EXACTLY what that means.. wife loves the smell outside but the nags come pretty quick as the room fills with it.

Let me know how that goes, trying my first run of Frog Morton Across the Pond right now and kinda unsure about it. Might take a few bowls before I make a firm decision.

So, I got to smoke a little bit of the new stuff and I had absolutely nothing to complain about (taste was great, wife who was sitting next to me reported that the aroma was excellent, and it did not burn too hot) UNTIL I was nearing the bottom of the bowl and BAM my lip got wet, which soon felt numb in that spot and when i took it apart to clean it out afterwards it was definitely wetter than I have experienced before. Now as you all know I am very new to smoking a pipe and I may have not had a full aromatic like this one before, but is this something we could consider normal? What's the deal??

I found out the hard way that as soon as I hear any kind of gurgling noise during my draw it time to run a pipe cleaner or two down the stem otherwise I'm going to get a mouthful. Seems to be intermittent, I can smoke a tobacco through 3-4 bowls or more then all of a sudden it'll happen. Might be technique too, not really sure so far as the why's.

That may have helped. Thank You for the tip. I did think that was odd when I heard the gurgling, I have also never experienced that. I will try a couple more times with this stuff and if it doesn't work out I think I may stick to the house blends from my local cigar shop.. Even if the guy for whatever reason has no idea what the blends contain, I just simply don't have anywhere near enough cash to try all that I would like to try to find out it smokes too wet for my tastes... Very disappointing actually.. :|.. how is the frog morton verc? is that a wet smoke also?

The FM isn't bad, has a kinda odd taste that I'm unsure about, almost a "floral" taste. Might be the Latakia as I've not had anything with that in it before, perhaps one of the more experienced folks could chime in there. The one bowl I've smoked so far burned quite dry, just didn't really wow me.

The sweetness you taste in FM Across The Pond is no doubt the McClellannd Virginias mixed with the sweetness of the Syrian Latakia. If you've not had McC's virginias before, they taste like no other VA's out there. I adore them, but was quite surprised at the natural sweetness of the weed.

Give FMATHP some time. I love it!

Eileen's was my first "good" tobacco as well. I have to say, from the first bowl of it I could tell the difference in the quality of the tobacco versus the store blends I had been smoking. I still have some of the store blend stuff left and it is amazing to switch between that and the CAO or McClelland or Peterson and notice how much better the tobacco from the established blenders is. Some people are pretty down on aromatics, but I am still a new pipe smoker as well and still trying to ease my way into the straight VAs and Burleys and Latakia blends, so having something easy to smoke like Eileen's is nice.

The gurgle happens to me pretty often and I was bothered by it at first as well, but I now stay on top of it by quickly pushing a pipe cleaning down to the bowl, twisting it a little bit, and pulling it back out. When you do this, you'll notice that it comes out pretty wet and the gurgling will stop. From what I understand, aromatics like Eileen's are much wetter than non-flavored tobaccos and as you smoke, liquid will seep out of the tobacco and collect in the bowl. I usually only do this once per bowl, and with some tobaccos it isn't necessary at all.

I've had the cigar version of all of the CAO flavors and they're all really good because unlike other companies CAO still uses high quality tobacco even in their flavored ones. My wife really likes the Cherry Bomb so I snagged that for her in pipe tobacco and i have to say it is quite nice as well.

Have not tried it, but I have to go outside too or get in front of the vent-a-hood, LOL! Well when she's not here sometimes I may get a puff or two inside with out the vent, LOL!

I'm going to open an online sporting goods store in this thread... Apparently alot of fellers around here need to purchase some balls..

Almost forgot to chime in on "the gurgle". Other than to say that gurgle happens, I don't know what to say. At first I thought it was kind of funny to use a pipe cleaner to actually clean a pipe, but since then I've found I can't live without them. They also silence the gurgle quite nicely, but more than anything, the gurgle is a message from my pipe that I need to cool it a bit, relax, have patience, enjoy the peace and quiet of a happy, non-gurgling pipe.

P.S I'm also relegated to the porch when smoking

And yours are bigger than mine, PeeBee -- I've been thinking that for years, but keeping the cork stuck in it from not wanting folks to feel put down.

What worked for me -- very early on -- was "There is only one thing on this earth you can do FOR me that I can't do just about as well myself, if not better . . . Have babies."

Once everything's in perspective, a lot of issues that people report as "problems" just never come up. That's one of them.

:face:

Women want to be the girl riding behind the guy on the motorcycle with her arms around him, going where he's going. Not the one steering it. Or dictating the destination.

A lot of the bogus "issues" they come up with are, I'm convinced, in the nature of protests against not being able to slip into that role and be secure in it.

A lifetime of propaganda to the contrary notwithstanding, women aren't designed to be femmepersons, and only adopt that role (while resenting it) because they think it's what "the better sort" of women do. Because that's the way it's portrayed on every hand.

A females-for-females site that reeks of perfume, but they tell it like it is.
