Hello everyone!

I've been threatening to join this forum for about a week now. I've been smoking my Nording Signature Freehand Semi-Rusticated on occasion for about 3 years now, but I've only recently discovered the wealth of craft tobaccos available to me. Before, I thought the only thing there was to smoke was in the 10 glass jars of heavy aromatics at the local cigar shop. I recently started researching pipe smoking in depth (I love learning everything I can about things that interests me) and I decided to try an English blend, more specifically Dunhill Standard Mixture, because I had read what a prime example it was of that style of tobacco. I was pleasantly surprised by the waft of smokey latakia that sprung out of the tin when first opened. When the first match singed the top of the bowl, I was amazed at the depth and layering of flavor that tobacco has when not chained by heavy casing.

So, I'm eager to start expanding my tobacco collection (as well as my pipe collection) and would appreciate as much help as possible. In particular, I've noticed a few of you regular contributors have historically been willing to send other members packages of tobacco that you think they should try or perhaps old dried out tins that you're not willing to rehydrate. I welcome all such offers and would be more than enthusiastic to try my hand at reviving some long forgotten, crispy tins of respectable tobacco that simply need to be resurrected. (I'm afraid my wallet won't allow me to build a well-rounded collection very quickly.)

In addition, I am looking forward to contributing to the rich discussion I've found to take place on this forum. I know I'm new to pipe tobacco, but I think I may be able to, with time, write decent reviews and participate in discussing the complexities and joys of the briar.

Thank you for welcoming me.

Regards

Welcome aboard, Theophilus. I, as many of us did, started much like you. I once thought the "candy jar" blends were the fancy ones because they didn't come in a pouch from Rite-Aid. We're looking forward to your company.

Welcome to the group! This is a great place for the learning pipe smoker and for the experienced enthusiast alike.

Welcome dear sir!! And congratulations for joining such an illustrious group of pipe lovers!

I too am in Dallas. I frequent sir Elliot's tobacco. If you ever care to have a friendly smoke and chat hit a fellow BoB up!
