Hello everyone, my name's Andy, been smoking pipes on and off since 1969. I love my Falcon and tend to use smaller bowls, usually the Dublin shape. I've enjoyed many different tobaccos over the years, too many to list here. Today I'm smoking Gawith & Hoggarth's Best Brown unscented flake, cube-cut. In general, I prefer my tobacco in plug or flake form.

Welcome! Pull up a chair and set a while.

Good afternoon Andy. I am writing from the Cotswolds (for all those around the world, it is West England). Started off with pipe-smoking in 1973, on and off as you say. Had my own Private Mixture No 36149 at Dunhill's and often enjoyed it after dinner at the Reform Club. Those were the days! I like traditional shapes of pipe, straight or half-bent, and the English Mixture, although currently my favourite is the Rattrays 7 Reserve.

Andy - I have to ad a post here re the highly regarded Falcon. Note below my pair. Took me a while to find the various pieces…during the time we did a BOB Pipe of the Year that was an engraved Falcon. One of our own did the engraving. Here I have a bent black briar bowl mated to a straight white and meerschaum. Initially I called the pair “Ebony and Ivory”…homage to Stevie Wonder. Then, with time, I grew to think of them as “Darth Vader” and “Princess Leia”.

Hello Hugo. and welcome Andy. I'm in Hampshire (England), and started my pipe smoking journey around 1958 ! Since then, I have experimented with dozens of different tobaccos, and collected several pipes. I share your enthusiasm for Rattrays, and in my current rotation enjoy a Rattrays bent billiard pipe and Hal o' the Wynd and Old Gowrie tobaccos. I know the Reform Club (have lunched there), and am a long time member of the In & Out and Flyfishers Clubs. We seem to have much in common. Best wishes. Alan Hancock

Pleased to have you here with us. Great choice on your tobacco.
Fine looking pair of Falcons, Blackhorse. I always find these pipes deliver the coolest smoke. Last year I bought a pipe from the Danish Pipe Shop that had caught my eye. Beautiful design and quality build, but it just doesn't smoke as cool as my Falcon. One of my favourite baccys is Revor Plug from gawith Hoggarth, one of the coolest burners I've come across, so might try that one day soon when I feel brave enough! Happy smoking :) (Trying to attach a photo of the Chacom "Oscar".)
