I think I have about 25 briar, 3 cobs, 1 clay and a Falcon. But I have kept every pipe I have ever bought.

I have about 75, including meers and MMs.

I was raised in The 'Burgh, but can't smoke when games are on. It would be dangerous in my house, filled as it by female fans who were brought up right as to appreciating proper foopbaw. But you don't want to be clenching a pipe when they've had a few bottles of wine and begin to caper about singing Drink Up Yinz ******** and twirling their Terrible Towels.

I'm down to 20 right now. 3 meers, 2 clays, 1 gourd calabash(has a meer bowl), 1 Kirsten 1 mm cob, the rest are briar. I'm happy with what I've got but I have no problem picking up more.

Counting the pipe I purchased today? 10 total, funny thing is I have only been smoking pipe for about 10 weeks. That’s one outbreak of PAD per week . Today I got a Custom stem Churchwarden MM cob. 8)
How many do I wish to own?.... :twisted: more :twisted: ...figure I will slow down somewhere around 25 pipes. After I reach the 25 mark I will still probably try to get a nice acquisition every month or two depending on finances at that time.

I'm at 29 carefully chosen pipes right now. 30 +/- seems to be about right for me and I'll stick in that vicinity. IE, if one must leave to add another.

I tend to not sell pipes. I've given a few to friends over the years.

The style of tobacco has changed. Also the strength. Some of my larger pipes don't see much action these days.

There are days, many days, where I smoke 5 or 6 bowls. To rotate my pipes like I would like to I need a few more.

(That's my story and I am perfectly happy with it.)

I am working in New York this week and went to the De La Concha Dunhill trunk sale on December 4th. If you bought 4 or more Dunhills, you received 25% off. So lets just say I helped the wife buy me 4 Christmas presents. Crazy. Believe it or not, the older gentleman in front of me bought 8 Dunnies. I struck up a conversation with him and he said this will bring him to 100 Dunhills even. 100 Dunhills? My God. Is he trying to have one for every day of the year. Just craziness I tell you.

Georges Simenon, the author of the Maigrait detective novels, was said to have owned over 300 Dunhills and is said to have smoked 7 to 8 pipefulls of Royal Yacht in them daily You've still got a ways to go :twisted: :twisted:

Well Zeno, I am 43, so I prefer to think of it as acquiring 6/10 of one pipe each year, which actually isn't all that much.

Although it will sound sacrilegious to some, I would slow down a bit.
Even though it sounds like you're adding some nice pipes to your collection, it's probably too early to tell what shapes/styles are going to become favorites.
A good number of BoB members join, and start off buying a lot of pipes, only to end up selling many of them off soon afterward, for whatever reason.
And I'm including myself in that group. For me, I just didn't end up caring for pipes with vulcanite stems, albeit, after I had already bought quite a few...

Between 400 to 500 maybe more, someday I'll get around to smoking them all.
