A Question for the more knowledgeable brothers. At what point is a sealed tin not good any more? I recently passed up an opportunity to buy a sealed tin of Edgeworth Ready Rubbed that was over 70 years old and another tin of something I don't recall ever seeing before that was 112yo. I'm wondering if that was a mistake. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

 Jim

If its still sealed its probably smokable.
To what extent it's smokable is another question altogether.

When I come across some dry tabac I have been using something called the blimpiefier soak it for like 20 sec is some purified water put it in the tabac for a few days, stir periodically, and the tabac is brought back like magic. Freakin love it!!

You never know til you pop open the tin. At worst the tobacco could have had a bacterial infection or has become moldy making the tobacco unsmokeable. Both situations I have run across.

ecently I found three 40 year old tins of Prince Albert that were quite dry but after re-hydrating them became a very good smoke. I also found two old tins of Larsen Kentucky Gold that very dry but smokeable after re-hydrating them.

Good luck,

Jim

Send them to Kyle Weiss. He will let you know if they're any good or not.
