I've been an occasional pipe smoker for about 7-10 years. I have always been attracted to the aesthetics and artistry of hand carved pipes. Being recently retired, I have found that restoring estate pipes is a true joy. It speaks to my love of wood working and quality design. I will readily admit that there is a lifetime of lessons to learn about pipe restoration, but I'm an eager student.

te Welcome bear great to have you with us mate (y):) I also find restoring estate pipe very rewarding and yet I struggle to throw a pipe cleaner through them when I should :rolleyes:
I would never had the confidence to do so until I got onto steves site https://rebornpi
Hey Aussiemike, I have looked at Steve's website and you are correct. He has some very no-nonsense approaches to pipe restoration. He also has a tremendous ability to describe a restoration process with a plethora of photos to walk you through the process of restoration.

Howdy Signed,

I just had to say that I really appreciate your profile pic. "Young Frankenstein" is one of my all time favorites. Peter Boyle as "the monster" was tremendous. Regarding your invitation, I would love to pull up a chair and converse for a while about all pipe topics. I'm sure I could learn a wealth of information from a man of pipe experience.

Thanks Eutychus,

I've read through a few of your previous posts, and it sounds like you may be my best contact for pipe tobacco tips and tricks. I have recently been curious about tobacco blends and mixtures. I may tap you for some Tobacco Blending 101 questions.
@BearHntr1961, although I'd be happy to pass on anything I may have learned, I am way down the list of knowledgeable pipe smokers on BoB. That's not false modesty on my part. I've been involved in this hobby for a little under one year. Fortunately, there are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks here, and all you have to do is ask. 🤓

Hey there BearHntr1961!
Greetings from PA Dutch Country.
Seems you enjoy restoring pipes, what a useful talent! Do you restore for your own satisfaction, or for monetary gain, or both?
I've recently begun restoring my Corncob pipes, (Ok, that does sound funny). More like repairing and upgrading stems. Titebond wood glue works wonders.
