Meerschaum, eh? I will try that one. The only concern I have is, contrary to popular belief (at least from my angle), the sepiolite (meerschaum) itself has a flavor and scent to it--something I can easily detect. It's salty, briny and has this boiled clam shell kind of nose to it. I'd be curious to see what the Princess thinks of that.

'Fraid I must have ruined my palate after all these years of smoking English/Balkan blends as I have NEVER encountered the tastes or scents from any of the Meers I have smoked during this time. All I have ever tasted or smelled was the tobacco I was smoking in my Meer. I envy your super sensitive palate as I'm sure you get soo much more than the rest of us from it

Monbla, I just can't tell if you're baiting me or contributing somehow. I'll pretend it's the latter in my ignorance.

...where was I...

Yak, you had me totally confused there for a moment, but now I get ya. Good window analogy, good violin analogy. Yet, if someone were blind, and had no idea what a violin looked or felt like, once they cross that threshold, for a while anyway, the violin becomes a known object in addition to a sound source, and then it becomes music again.

I envy those that can just swallow a whole mouthfull of anyone and call it food, because here I am, often picking through the bite, looking for bones, flavors, textures--I have to remind myself to enjoy it once in a while.

No baiting, just commenting on your super sensitivity you always mention. In some ways I envy you, but in some ways I'm sure it gets in the way of ENJOYMENT ! As they say "ignorance can be bliss" and I gues I've been an ignorant folk all these years ! :p

Fair game. Yeah, I have to remind myself to step back and...

* Not look at the painting too closely, or be too critical

* Not listen to my compositions too harshly

* Not water my plants too much

* Not make assumptions to people's words in public or electronically

* Not sound be a jerk when I ask my better half to do something for me

* Not over-think/do anything with my pipes that isn't necessary

...all for the greater good of enjoying what I have. We all have what comes easy to us, and challenges thereafter. No amount of support, repetition or advice can mean revelation as much as finding one's own way. It can be a troubling process, not so much for the individuals, but those looking on.

If I didn't enjoy this process in all its facets, I'd be posting on a quilting forum. I think sewing is awful, though. *shrug*
