I am hearing so much nay saying about our ability to get tobacco in the future. Having been part of the Christian church my entire adult life... I don't really listen to Armageddon prophecies anymore, so I have a tendency to think "yeah, whatever"

But... if this is really serious, I am kinda screwed. I do have some disposable income, but I am putting that into pipe making tools. Which will be a stupid small business if less and less people actually are buying pipes. And also, I am not adding anything to my cellar, which means I am going to run out of tobacco. I don't really have enough to last me through June now :shock:

So, what the hell do I do?

If all comes to pass, maybe you should buy 'bac and look to the pipe making as an occasional hobby, if it all goes as some think. If we ALL spent as much time engaged politically in this issue as we do in lamenting it's demise, we MIGHT have a chance of keeping it from happening. Sadly, there are many religious groups engaged in much of the ANTI camps efforts so it's gonna be an uphill battle, :evil:

What to do if they ban the sale of tobacco? Quit, because it won't be long after that possession will be illegal too. Got a twenty pound cellar? Felony. Bombed a brother a couple ounces? Felony distribution.

Very few times do things suddenly go pear-shaped to people's worst-case imaginations. Especially with little wars like those of "tobacco." Oh, things go to crap, but it's typically a timed process...all our efforts would only slow down the process. I wouldn't worry about June so much as I would maybe five years from now. The best you can do, Rev, is buy what bacca you can within your means, store it well, and hope for the best. Meanwhile, of course, keep carving.

If it comes down to smoking once a week, or even once a month, to keep my tiny stash floating me because the fight is too big to tackle, so be it. Tobacco likely won't be illegal, but it'll be so cost-prohibitive we either must seek a higher tax bracket or start rationing our cellars.

Or, we can grow tobacco on our own and learn how to make it delicious. Might take a while, but it'd be fun. I'm gonna start this as soon as I have a square of land to do so. Greg Pease might wrinkle his nose at my leaf, but he'll adapt. :mrgreen:

That's just looking up the petticoats and seeing the larger game being played by politics. Usually folks are satisfied with imagination and a shallow presentation of beauty, but in this case, the Sensible Lady has tripped and showed us more than she intended. Few noticed.

It's stupid, to think one thing dressed so similar can be so different with the right poise and coloration, while fooling common sense in the process.

rev, seek ye the Black Market. Tobacco prohibition in a variety of guises has already hit the UK, Canada and Mexico. I'd be very surprised if such an organization doesn't already exist.

I'm at ~65 lbs. I'm going to spend another $2K to get to 120 and quit. I've been hankering to buy a pipe, but I have the rest of my life to buy pipes and only a short while longer to buy tobacco at a reasonable price.
