Dang, Rob. I snap your leash for missing something I posted, and now you're the Encyclopedia Monblanica of this thread! :p

Unfortunately I am unable to participate this month and the next. But I will be watching and looking forward to getting back in on the action.

Also, do not know how it is that I have not been following this thread. Oy.

Honestly, looking at the aircraft that BH gave for voting on: My first reaction is to go with the P-51D (I like to be specific about my aircraft). There are many reasons, a lot of them all ready stated, in addition to it being my absolute favorite military prop propelled plane of WWII. However, when speaking of "the" plane, several points need to be made in defense of the P-40E. Granted it was an older design but that in no way slowed it down (insert joke about already being slow). The spitfire was an old airframe as well. Though the P-51D was one of the best fighters ever put in the air by the US the P-40 series was the first fighter in wartime production, was flown by more allies in more places and in larger numbers than other US fighters. All the while doing well. It, like the spitfire, did the job it needed to and for as long as it needed to, replaced and down graded in duty only in the final years of the war.

All of that to say that objectively, it should probably be the P-40E Warhawk, but for the purpose of the BoB Bomber support fighter? Hands down the P-51D Mustang.

Too late to add a vote for the Sopwith Camel?
attachment.php
I officially change my vote to the Sopwith Camel!!

Oh boy.... :x

Sorry Brother Mozjo33, your vote has already been cast and added to the running tally. Official Rules prevent one from going back and changing their vote once cast. Only the Commander himself can overturn this rule.

BTW Pilots -

This is the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) for dealing with pilots who try to change their votes after having been cast:

Orders received...and as luck would have it, I've got a great payload ready to go.

taH mentioned to me that some of the orders that went out last night had the correct mission date on the subject line but said June 20 in the body of the message. Thanks TA! Good you guys are watching my back...etc.

So, just so there's no misunderstanding and someone thinks that sending out their package on June 20 is correct...although that would be a Lo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-n-g time to wait...

Synchronize your watches...time your payloads to hit the target on Friday, July 20th ! ! !

A great date, btw (my late father's birthday, vet of the push into Germany, Jan-May, 1945)

SHARK MOUTH

Hey Kaiser - some of the P-51's had the Shark Mouth too. 8)

Posers. See even the P51 wants to be like the P40. In light of this new change and the fact that apparently the P-51 is having an identity crisis worse than Elton John I think the P-40 should take half the votes for the P-51 by default.   :lol!:

Great, BH sent me a PM alluding to the idea I hadn't. I wasn't rolling back through 9,000 posts of you guys waxing each other's legs over airplanes to find it.

Other note: "Encyclopedia Monblanica" = hilarious.

And yet he still posts the exact wrong picture to make his point! :p Although, it seemed to work anyway for the intended brother:

Take a closer look, Kaiser. That "poser P-51" is actually a P-40. Rob, I didn't set out to pick on you all the way through this thread, but you make it so darned easy! :D :D

I caught it George. I was taking Robs word that he in fact somewhere has a pic of a 51 with a shark mouth. Mine was a preemptive strike for when he does post the right pic lol.

Gotcha, Kaiser. We may choose different planes, but I think we can both agree that picking on Rob is fun. :p

He is Commander, Rob just lends himself to being a punching bag of sorts.

Yeah, I'm sorry. It's this dang heat wave. It's got everyone on a short fuse around here. I saw a Buddhist monk kick a three-legged dog this morning.
