Monogamous or Promiscuous?

I have one main smoke (Haunted Bookshop) I smoke about 50% of the time and have a few others I smoke regularly in-between the HB, that way I never get bored with my main smoke. I also have a lot (20?) of other blends I smoke once in a great while. I used to be a tobacco slut, but settled down after 15 years or so to one wife and a few mistresses. This in no way mirrors my married life.

I think I've simply been brought up a total harlot by my baccy godfather. Currently I'm monogamous because of financial restraints on visiting the bordel... eh, tobacconist's, but this will surely be fixed soon. ;)

I've got a lot of stuff in small mason jars that I smoke over the course of a week. I do like variety!

I usually have 2-4 in something of a rotation and 1-3 opened that I dip into when I feel like it
Yeah...that's about where I usually am, but then you join a group like this and the samples start to roll in, and the next thing you know you've got your usual 3 blends, the 2 or 3 "change of pace" tins, and something approaching half-a-million baggies/jars/quarter-tins of samples sitting around.

I have my favorites, but my attentions wonder frequently. I try to keep open tins to a minimum but I don't hesitate to dip into any jar that might suit my current fancy. Its very rare that I'll smoke the same blend three times in a row. The last that comes to mind was my first tin of Sextant - that one hooked me for a good bit.

I'm like a filthy sailor of pipe smoking, hitting a number of tobaccos hard and fast, rarely returning, though return I will...

Yeah, I vary what I'm smoking. I currently have 12 different tobaccos I'mm dipping into. I'm a noob, so this can be excused by saying I'm developing my tastes. ;)

I think I've smoked the same tobak back-to-back like twice in 2 years.

Guess that means I be a ho! A tobak ho! Yeah, like 40+ jars open. I just look at it like:

lat blends
oriental blends
non-lat va blends
non-lat vaper blends
burley blends
aros

So, if I have 7 jars of each type open, who's to judge? :affraid:

I'm pretty much the same. Often, I'm trying to make room in the rotation for favorites lol I'm not always trying something new but I only keep a handful of jars and tins open at any given time. No real rhyme or reason... When I finish a tin, I go through the cellar and let the next tin pick itself.

There are certain blends that I always have open.

And sometimes (now) I open a tin (Old Gowrie) that just demands my full attention... I'll likely smoke multiple bowls a day until its gone :)

I keep returning to tried and true blends for regular consumption. This might constitute about 6-10 at present.

Yet I'm always up for a new and different toby. Who knows what might become another regular until you smoke a couple bowls?

been steadily moving away from aro's thanks to you guys corrupting me. Well now I really am a full blow tobacco tramp, 1Q , dunhill london mixture and PS LNF all in one day. I like them all and am just now being blown over into the english world thanks to packages from natch and mark.

Actually, my filthy polynicotianist nature is due largely in part to BoB. Otherwise, I'd probably be slowly dragging through cans and tins one at a time, probably through the same, dank, dirty, stinky briar. This place is corrupting, in the nicest, tastiest way.

...I smoke 4-5 bowls a day between 2-3 tobaccos...Depending on mood, pipe and weather, I stay within a rotation of 15 or so tobaccos...I do enjoy a radical trip down memory lane on some days but eventually return to my 15. I also try various new tobaccos as well but in moderation... :sunny:

There are sooooo many different types of tobacco out there and since I'm only a few years into serious pipe smoking, I want to smoke them all at least once (impossible, I know). I guess I'm still "discovering" what works for me and what doesn't. Being a member of this forum makes it harder to settle on a core group of go-to blends, so thanks for that Brothers!

Currently, I have probably eight or more opened tins. Some have been opened for months and some very recent. I have a tough time smoking one blend for more than one day without mixing in something else tomorrow. Usually I carry two tins to work, and have two more I play with in the evening.

I have nothing opened at the moment.

I'm wondering what jar to open next.

Multiple selections is me. I started out with some things I could buy locally and a few tins of SG blends to start. Then I learned about aging. I also discovered Tobacco Reviews and this site. I've got quite a few small and medium jars in the cupboard as well as in my cellar. When I place an order for something new I also look at the list I keep for others that I want to try, and either order a tin or an ounce or 2. I use what comes in the bags in my rotation and put the tins in the cellar for later. It's been months since I opened a new tin of anything as I want to finish off some of the bags before introducing a new option. This helps me to be patient and allow the cellared blends to get more time on them. My normal practice is one bowl per day with maybe a day or 2 per week of 2 bowls so it takes me a while to go through even 2 ounces. I'm keeping a spreadsheet of notes so that I can go back and compare as well as see if there's any consistency with pairings of tobacco and pipe.

I'm a bacco slut, too. I've got about 11 jars of different baccos and usually don't smoke the same bacco consecutively....but I have with Orlick's Golden Sliced. To quote Cheech & Chong, "Man, that's some good shit." :D

So its only been about three months since I first responded to this thread. I'm sure it started to happen even before then, but as I think about it now, the tides have turned for me. I would say that, for the most part, I now smoke predominantly Blackwoods Flake or FVF (rough estimate would be about 60% of the time). Occasionally I'll crave a little latakia and smoke some Penzance or Old Dublin (say 25% of the time). Every now and then I'll get a hankering for something different and I'll dip into the jars in my cellar (10%), or I'll want to try something new (5%), but much less often then in years past. Tomorrow I'll crack open my 2012 Christmas Cheer, but I can't remember the last tin that I opened that wasn't Blackwoods Flake.

I've been going back and forth mostly between Nightcap and C&D Star of the East. Tried some FMC and didn't like it. I think I'll stick to my two current faves for the moment, and when those are gone I'll move down the list.

I guess that I am "pro". I try to keep about 8 open tins(mason jars) open all the time. Keeps me from getting bored.

I'm a total tobacco slut. I don't even have a "rotation". I smoke whatever my mood wants.
