Hey all!

I've picked up pipe smoking fairly recently, quitting cigarettes several months ago. It has taken just over a month on the pipe to curtail my smoking habits to fully appreciate the pipe, but the experience has been very rewarding. After surfing through the community during my trials and tribulations, I thought I would make it official and join the brotherhood!

Cheers

I bought a cheaper pipe to begin, its a Sansen 001 Q-Brand. it smokes alright, but I am thinking about shelling out a little more doe for something better.

I started on Amphora Mellow which I wasn't to fond of. It didnt taste that great IMO, nor was it strong enough. I am just about to finish a tin of Petersons University Flake, and although many people advised against it, I really did enjoy the stuff. Maybe I'm not fully able to appreciate the flavours but I really enjoy a bowl of this stuff.

I would appreciate any advise or baccy recommendations. Im assuming i like the burley taste in the UF, kinda tastes grainy, wheaty and nutty (or am I way off?). I know this stuff has plum topping on it, but I get a really mild grape raisin taste and thats only when I do taste it. Otherwise, I want to stay away from aromatics....I really enjoy the taste of tobacco.

Being in Canada I only have access to a couple brands of tobac: peterson, sail, brigham and captain black (at my shop anyway). What should I try next???

Where about in Canada are you? If you are anywhere near Montreal you should hit up Blatter & Blatter. Those folks have quite the selection. They can hook you up with blenty of good blends and quite a decent pipe as well. Also, I believe that many of our Canadian brothers routinely order from the larger US retailers, the tax savings more than makes up for the shipping charges (from what I understand at least).

As for those you mentioned. Grab a tin of Peterson's Old Dublin. :D

I've only recently joined myself and have to say that there are some nice, knowledgable foks here and you should enjoy and learn :)
As far as tobacco goes, I'm an English/Balkan blend smoker myself and can HIGHLY recomend just about ANY of the products made by McClelland which I'm sure you can find up there in Canada. Certainly on the Internet :)
