Hello there, been browsing the forums for a while made an account and hope to join in the conversation (probably end up asking more questions than contributing).

Started smoking a pipe a few months ago after visiting a good friend in FL that's a big pipe smoker. He let me try one of his pipes with a bowlful of a local stores blend and I was hooked, seemed it was the combination of the interaction with the pipe, the pace, the smooth taste of the smoke unlike a harsh cigar and the beauty of briar. It all added up to just a relaxing and enjoyable way of passing time.

Ended up buying a Mario Grandi off ebay and sampling a couple brands, was pretty fortunate in that a family member gifted me a nice little unsmoked Peterson they found in a house, also my wife gave me a BC Calabash for Christmas. Purchased a couple estate pipes from ebay and have had fun bringing a little life back into them, which is another enjoyable aspect.

So far I've tried a few VA blends and a couple burley blends, looking forward to being able to try more and learning more about pipes, techniques and tobaccos from you all here on the forum.

Howdy Chinaski,
Welcome aboard.

A Pete, found in a house, given to you?? Thats too cool !
Hey , try and post a pic of it , if at all possible. Im sort of a Peterson nut, and would love to see it.

If you have a hard time posting pics, as I did, watch the video on the subject, that is posted as a sticky at the top of the picture section. It makes it easy.

So, you are in Virginia huh? I'm sort of naive, and I do know they grow Virginia Tobacco elsewhere, but , do you have any tobacco fields or wharehouses around you ?

Well, I hope you enjoy your time on this forum.

Dusty
