Gentleman,
I have recently acquired 2 tobaccos, W.O Larson 1864 "perfect blend" which is excellent for me. I also picked up the dunhill early morning pipe tobacco. This one is NOT to my liking. It had just been opened and none used.

If anyone would like it I would let it go real cheap. My email is [email protected]
Thankyou gentleman and have a great day.

Howdy... In addition to this post being a tad misplaced (part of it anyway, the commerce part...) ...a quick note which you may not be able to read unless you hit the "milestone" for our 30/30 rules...

Just to summarize the rules here:

Members may not buy, sell, or trade in the Trading Post section until they have been registered for 30 days, and made 30 posts elsewhere on the board. This is to reduce the possibility of fraud, as well as give established members a fair shake at any offers.
Listing free items is exempt from this rule, since there is no chance of fraud.
(FYI, commercial listings in The Town Crier are separate, and may be posted by any member with a relevant business.)
Please complete any transactions via PM or email, NOT on the public board.
You will note that Rule #4 makes it very hard to enforce Rule #1 when an unqualified member tries to purchase from the Trading Post. Sellers, please be on your honor about this!
Moderators can grant exceptions to these rules under certain circumstances--PM one to ask, and make note of your permission when you post.

...the good news is, you don't have long to wait, and your EMP will store nicely in a ziploc bag in its original tin until then. 8)

Sorry that tabak wasn't to your liking. I find EMP to be a fine example of a light English! Perhaps it's the Latakia that isn't to your palette?

Ahh....my apologies. I guess I could just give it away...no need for me to sit on it when there could be someone out there that would actually enjoy it. And yes I think it is the Latakia that kills it for me. I just love the aromatics more. Oh welp, live and learn.

Through the catalogue there really isn't any descriptions of the different tabaks. I definitely lucked out on the "1864" though. Just delicious!

I've let the powers-that-be know it's a little hard to read the commerce rules while being "new" and not being granted the ability to get to the area that the info-posts are, so it isn't your doing. I thought I'd step in and let ya know though. ;)

I'm not going to tell you NOT to give it away, but if you hold onto it for a little while, as I suggested, you might be able to trade with someone for some aromatic that might work-- when, of course, you get to the 30/30 stage. I'd be someone who might have something to offer! But, rules are rules.

Cheers to you for trying something other than aromatics for your early stage with the pipe, too--tastes often change over time, so you might even consider keeping that EMP and trying it some months or even a year down the road. Just be sure to store it so it doesn't turn into tobacco breakfast cereal (dry).

EMP is a great blend. 8)

What do you mean early stages with the pipe? I've been smoking pipe for 13 years. Some of my nordings I've had for the same amount of time. I have always loved aromatics not just for the smell but the taste to me is better. Latakia is just so overpowering to me.
I should have really investigated further as to the blend of EMP. I would literally have to buy a new pipe to try it. But I shall do as you suggest and hold on out for a bit and try and do more posts. Thankyou again for the heads up.

My mistake, from the way the conversation progressed I got the impression you were a pipe newb. Sorry about that! You have more years on my by a large factor. Perhaps I'm not used to guys going back to an aromatic after they've tried non-aros.

EMP doesn't allude to its content of Latakia--again, not your fault. Good luck.

When I smoked EMP, I found it to have the Orientals dominant. I caught no hint of Latakia. The Tobacco review page does not indicate any Latakia in the blend only Virginia and Oriental. You may not like the Oriental leaf. Sir Brian. Do put it away and try it again in 6 to 12 months.

Ahh, an oriental....interesting. It just hits the nose so wrong for me. Just dunno, I think I shall be rocking the aromatics till I die!! Lolz'n

I never cared for EMP, either. But then, for a long time I didn't care for anything with even the slightest hint of Latakia.

In the last year or two, I've actually been enjoying a few blends that include a light touch of Lat in them...maybe its time I revisit EMP to see if my opinion has changed.

I think the sources that cite EMP's tobacco makeup or either incomplete or mistaken--there is Latakia in there. I have a very sensitive (not wussy! :p) palette and I really like Latakia.

idbowman, you might want to pick up a sample/tin of SG Skiff Mixture. It's usually available (snubbed by the hoarders and snobs, for some reason) and I find it to be a brilliant light English. I'm not sure if I've sung the praises of Pipeworks & Wilke's blends to you in that regard, either (for some reason I'm recalling you've tried them). If you haven't tried them, there's #10 and #13 that are great.

I like "Lat bombs," but the thing is, sometimes I find Latakia mixtures suffer from the same problem aromatic mixtures do--they cover up the true tobacco making up the bulk of it. This worries me, as it's a great way to obfuscate inferior tobacco. Who wants to waste their time?

The thing I like about EMP for example, it's very subtle, but there's nothing to hide. Apparently the blenders who had the product before Orlik (was it Murray?) back-in-the-day were more favorable to smokers (or they just got used to it, and any change would have been bad, I suspect), but I find it to be a wonderful, consistent and pleasant smoke. I originally thought EMP would have been slightly sweet, but it isn't. It just isn't a "rough" smoke. In all honesty, when I bought it, I just liked the cover art on the tin. 8)

It was the first non-aro I ever bought...and I seriously bought for that exact reason (probably a good thing they weren't well-stocked on C&D tins, or I'd have gone broke).

I have a very aged tin of EMP. It is possible that the lat has softened a lot. I see that the "Professor's pipe" site says that it has latakia. I yield Kyle and will smoke some in my next bowl full. :alien:

What little Latakia there is in there, probably likely. I hear that's what aged Lat blends will do, is mellow out the...erm... "Lattiness" (Lat-titude?) Meh. Hell, for being suckered by the tin art, I'm damn glad I discovered it. If you don't like it, let me know, maybe I have something I could trade out to ya. 8)

We were already able to work out a trade

So I will finally try the famous Early Morning Pipe! Although I do have a few unopened, older Murray's era tins...

Hello, SirBriar.

Don't worry about it or let some of these guys (Kyle) get to you.

I started with Aromatics - about 19-years ago, went to English Blends a few years, and then back to Aromatics about 10-years ago.

I went to the Dark Side  and came back. If Annekin Skywalker could do it (Return of the Jedi), then I figured I could too.

I still enjoy a light English, and keep a stash of EMP in semi-regular rotation - but 80% of my stash and regular smoke is made up of Aromatics.

That Kyle guy's a frackin' jerk. Don't listen to him. Luckily, he's easy (and recommended) to ignore. :D

Just pullin' your chain, ole Buddy. That comment about not going back to Aromatics was too good for me to resist.
