*Bangs head on wall* must not buy.. must not buy... I would love to try the stuff. But, I have to add it to the list for my next TAD (probably towards the end of April) as I am having to exert some self control for a while. (Bills come first)

Out of sheer curiosity, I picked up a small tin to try. Personally, I can't imagine them outdoing ODF, which to my tastes is one of the best, if not the best blend they have to offer.

I have to say.. ODF is one of my favorites as well. Please let me know how this new blend rates :)

I'm waiting to try the ODF, and am a bit hesitant due to the suspected nic bomb I'll have on my hands.

I'm not in Bold Kentucky territory, I don't think.

I was hoping for a hot pressed lat bomb or something.

It's not for everyone, that's for sure.

I am still wondering how you enjoy Old Joe Krantz as a regular smoke. I bought an ounce and while I enjoyed it enough, it knocked me on my keester..

I am still trying to figure out burley..

You should have seen me on my honeymoon when all I took with me was an Oom Paul and a tin of Burley flake #3 without ever having tried it before. How could that not be reasonable.

And to be on topic, when I smoke DFS or the like I use a relatively small pipe. I like ODF in my pipes a little closer to the types I use for Virginia though the smaller end of that range. I suspect ill start Bold Kentucky in a small pipe when I get it. I may even use my BoB POTY 2014 on the first go.

Isn't that what is used for the dark fired Ky?

(Thanks for the offer, but I feel a bit overwhelmed at the moment - I still have a massive order inbound with the 20% HH sale)

Not all burleys are created equal. There's different types and different processes. The c&d burley in OJK is a dark burley that's notoriously musty and stout.

Also, has anyone noticed how DireWolf seems really cool, involved, gets us talking. Yet I know he's turned down at least two offers for free samples recently. Government Agent? :suspect:

Yes. Dark Fired Kentucky is burley, smoke cured obviously. I do enjoy it, exceptions aside, mostly as a condiment.

I am trying to find my stride with good ol' regular burley, which often tastes bitter to me.

Well, I have 4 tins of ODF on the way - so hopefully it takes.

I nearly ordered some this morning but after Jim's comment in response to a question asked as to how it compares to HH ODF, I gave it a miss. I'm not sure it's in my wheel house. Two of my favs, I have a few pounds of each on hand, are HH ODF and HH VS and did order a tin of HH AP which I hadn't tried yet.

I have no doubt HH BK is a high quality blend but I think I'll wait for a few more educated opinions before I reconsider ordering.

All in all I'm a McB's HH fan so far.

The HH line fits the description of exactly the type tobaccos my tongue gets along with, so I will definitely be sampling this one. With ODF being such a stellar offering, how could my curiosity not get the best of me?

Chances are however, it won't even come close to besting ODF.

no no - not an issue with ODF. i'm very nic sensitive (can't smoke any of Greg Pease's stuff) and LOVE ODF.

doody.

Ordered a tin to try yesterday. Also cracked my tin of ODF to finally try and damn, that is one delicious tobacco.

Try C&D Pegasus and PS Pressed Burley

I am dredging the memory banks. Were you the one who dd not care for Uhle's 00 and sold it to me? If so skip the PS Pressed Burley recommendaton.

Aged Burley Flake is very good but expensive.
