All-

Was just beguiled by a pic of a Neerup on an e-tailer site. Don't know why it spoke to me but it did....yes it did indeed!

;)

This may come under the heading of PAD, but before I plunk down hard earned cash (or type in a number for a plastic rectangle as it were) I'd like to see what ye say about Neerup pipes since I don't know jack squat about them, other than they are Danish.

All comments graciously received, and thank you for your support....we'll leave the light on fer ya....and so on......

I have a Jeppesen. Neerups are designed by Peder and made by one of his employees and Jeppesens are made by Peder. Kind of like what Poul Winslow does with his Crown series.

As his pipes go,

He likes a short pipe. You should like a pipe with compact dimensions if you buy one.

The stems are chintzy. I would like a nicer stem on my pipe.

The pipes are nice, but he's definitely from the Erik Nording school of "spend 15 minutes finishing a pipe and on to the next".

Neerups are probably a pretty nice $80 pipe. Similar in quality to Nording and Bjarne lower end stuff. I think I'd opt for a Stanwell in that range, one of Sixten Ivarsson's designs like an 11 or 86. Or spend a little more for a rusticated Wiley or Tinsky in the $150 ballpark. That's just my preference.

I will say that I enjoy owning one of Peder's pipes, but compared to my Wileys, which are admittedly more expensive, it's not in the same league. Not even close.

I purchased a Nerrup Selection Smooth Bent Brandy (32) about two years ago. It took a while to break it in to my satisfaction, although admittedly I have a long rotation order for my pipes. It now smokes fine in all respects and is dedicated to quality aromatics.

Great input so far gents. Bring it on!

A pretty face does not a relationship make, or words to that effect!

Or so I've been told!

I'll also add that my Jeppesen is ultra light. Almost unnervingly so, but I know that would be found to be an admirable quality by many.

The bowl of mine is very different. The bore is smaller than any of my other pipes, and the chamber depth is much deeper. It's my primary Burley pipe.

I was digging up Neerup info, thanks for this (older) thread!

There's a lot of really good deals on Neerup stuff for those that want something different but don't want to spend a lot...
