Howdy,

Ive had this little "Yello-Bole Ebony" for about 3 years, and then a few weeks ago I bought a Briar.
Ive been smoking the Briar daily, because I really like the wood, and feel of it.

But yesterday , I figured I better give it a break, and went back to the Yello.
And I finally noticed the difference between pipes.
That little yello seemed cooler, but yet drew "too easy" maybe , by which I tended to puff, more so than with the Briar.
And I realized, If I were to smoke that fast with the briar it would have been HOT.
The yello seemed harder to keep lit, which is why I drew more often.

I guess, the briar, takes less effort to keep on the edge of going out, partly because its warmer, thereby keeping the ember going easier.

I dont know, but it was neat, and I actually decided I kind of like that little Yello for the differences it does have.
I guess , if were in a mood to smoke faster, it would be a good choice.
(And , I dont have to worry about scratching it , etc)

Ive got a Pete coming soon, I cant wait to see how "it" smokes.

What model of peterson are you getting . I have a few and like every one of them. Of course a couple of them more than the others. I have a 303 that is probably my favorate. Next being my millennium.

Interesting notes, Dusty.

Though, I do have to say, there's something to consider here: You've had the Yello Bole for 3 years and just got the briar! You know how to "steer the ship" with the pipe you've had a while, and are familiar with how she handles. Also, you can't necessarily use the same techniques from pipe to pipe--especially when starting out.

I've discovered this due to the extremely varied and weird pipes I've been adding to my collection lately. Some have wider bowls, deeper bowls, better/worse briar, thicker/thinner walls, longer/shorter shank and shaft combos--which of course makes you pack and load them differently... with different types of tobacco! Those factors then make you draw more or less, and more or less often... :bounce: :study:  :suspect:

So many variables.

It's good you're taking notice, though. I'll be curious to read what you think your Peterson is like by comparison.

Plumber, I ordered a 304.
Its an estate , but in good shape.

I REALLY want a 303 ! , when I first looked at Pete pipes, the 303 was the one that caught my attention.
I plan on having a new one by Christmas, thats why I am on a fast hunt for a blend I like, so I can break in the 303 , with something I like, and can dedicate that pipe, to that blend.

I also like a few of the "River" series, and a few of the "Racing Green" series.

We'll see .

LOL Kyle, those emoticons in your post pretty much describe all this huh?

Dusty, it's how I feel talking pipes and tobacco myself since I'm getting into this as a sophisticated man rather than an impulsive adolescent. Sometimes I'm wondering which one happens to be more frustrating for me. I mean, back then, some crappy drugstore tin and a Grabow...what more did I need? Simple!

It's a little different now!

I totally know how you feel. 8)
