looks like a nice cherry wood pipe. Rustic, but doesn't come off as ugly to me.

Agreed. The stem is a little garish, but the whole package is quaint and charming. 8)

Actually the pipe is made from hickory, and has a tendency to burn out in the heel. Hence the pipe mud upgrade. lol

Bet hickory complements lat really well?
Yeah, I have only smoked a few bowls of Rattrays 7 Medium in it. The stem is a cheap filter stem, and it's not very enjoyable to smoke.

Does that stem glow in the dark?
Lol, I wish it did. Then I could use it for a safety light during hunting season.

Here is a beater I picked up from the 'Bay for a song. I think the little feller has potential with the right person and a new stem.

Too bad I'm not the right person!

Looks like a basically nice pipe !

Thats my conclusion. I might send it off to a pipe refurbisher for work. I have another old pipe that needs work as well.

Pics from the eBay pipe (the smelly one I mentioned a month or so back): Peterson Kildare #106. Todd said he'd take a look, so we'll have some comparison shots (if the level of effort isn't crazy).

Thankfully, I know what to look for now in a pipe auction. ;)

Gravel, if you want to divest yourself of that pipe, I will help with that. :p

It is a good looking pipe overall, like the others have suggested, you should inquire about the cost for a referb.

This is a odd ball english pipe I got a few years back from an estate, Its old, small, and odd but pretty good smoker

Score...one of my pipes was used as an example of an ugly pipe  I no kidding just bought one of those that was unsmoked off eBay, but I darn sure didn't pay that much for it. Figured it would be an interesting, quirky, thing to have in the pipe rack.

Glad to see you posting again, plumber. 8) That pipe isn't ugly as it is very "folksy" lookin'. Cool.
