GK, realistically it isn't that hard to accomplish a marking like that on a pipe. Someone with a good woodburner, not the crappy ones you can buy at Michaels, but a darn good one could feasibly handle making that mark on a pipe. I would guesstimate about 30 minutes per pipe at a max to do the work to them. When the BoB pipe idea came up, if I was home, I would have burned a version of the logo on a cob shank myself so that people could get ideas in their heads. The extra work would not be hard. Most wood carving clubs have at least one person who prefers pyrography to actual carving...that be the person to talk to. Of course Tinsky would have to approve the alteration to his work.

I was talking about a factory alteration of the rustication boundary. (scalloped for BoB pipes rather than square like the Combat Pipe) Yes, it would be easy to do as the pipes were made, but the practical concern would be Tinsky's production schedule. Is he making BoB pipes to order, or putting a BoB stamp on a blank production pipe as orders come in? See what I mean?

Yes sir I do see what you mean. I was more thinking of a classy yet feasible way to get that sort of a stamping onto the pipe, and burning was the best idea I could come up with. I do see your train of thought though Sir.

Here's a comparison, for a better idea:

Just a neat idea I wanted to get out of my head before I forgot about it. :D

I think I need to put a basket on my head to catch what you just made go right over it. ?????

I hate to crap on the creativity parade--but if Tinksy did something like that, the cost would go up quite a bit. Part of the reason why Mark was chosen was because he already has some of the stamps available to make a BoB-specific pipe. 8)

Thanks for being a buzzkill Kyle. If anyone I would have thought you would have been another enabler...but NO....party pooper. :lol!:

I figured as much. Just an idea I thought I'd share.

It's actually bad-ass that way. Who knows, maybe Tinsky will look at it and say "...oh that? Not a problem..." (...but I doubt it...) 8)

One way to keep cost down and save a little time would be to eliminate the rusticated strip and just add a radius. It would still give the unique look. Looks there is plenty of room. Just my two cents worth.

Patience, guys. I swear, an answer will be had soon. 8) Not that I know anything...

Exactly. I was really only looking at the bottom edge of the boundary, but got a little carried away doing the mock-up. Of course, it's easy for you or me to say, "Well, heck, the line's gotta go somewhere. Might as well make it like that. It'd only take a few more minutes." This only applies to newly-made pipes though. Going back and reworking a bunch of nearly finished strummels would be a pain in the @$$.

I'm not asking him to do that, promised him I'd try to keep it simple  When you order yours you can roll those dice yourself.

Haven't yet spoken with Mark as he's a little busy, the fishing is good up there right now from what I gather, and I'm working nights for a couple of weeks here so we're working on a schedule for discussions. We do have an agreement to talk soon and have made some initial agreements, so be patient fellas, an announcement will be forthcoming. Right now I'd say things look very promising.

Fair enough. "Simple and Done" is a lot better than "Slightly less simple and Still Waiting".
I just thought it looked kinda cool, no?

GK, you come up with the cash, and Tinksy will put your favorite sonnet on there for you, I'm sure.
