Virginia Maryland Blend in a CAO bent brandy meerschaum, with a French press of Guatemala Xinabajul roast, which turned out mildly flavored and high in caffeine.
Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am going to do a little work before my second set of walking reps with a bowl of D&R Raccoon’s Friend in a pre-1980s straight dark brown Comoy's Sandblast 186 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Gold Star Cafe 645, neat, is my drink. A very smooth and tasty coffee.
Virginia Maryland Blend #2 in a CAO bent brandy meerschaum. This has bright, red, and lemon Virginia with Maryland. I'm going to make more of the first Virginia Maryland blend that doesn't have Virginia lemon, as the acidity of lemon seems to overpower the alkalinity of Maryland. I'll take one more little half bowl of blend #1 just to make sure.
Did a second set of walking reps, and smoked a bowl of Watch City Beta Test #4 in an undated, unbranded straight lattice meerschaum military mount with a silver cap and tapered yellow acrylic stem.
Going back to work with a bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Going to listen to The Great Gildersleeve from my radio collection.
All that's left to do today is close up the birds at dusk. Appetizer/dessert pipe is Drucquer Casbah in a Bent Boone, it should be a good prelude to duck breast and zucchini!
Smoked this trusty no-name briar a bit ago with Haunted Bookshop. I can't make up my mind about that one. First bowl was a m a z i n g. Every bowl after that has been somewhere between ew! and 'ok'. Today was OK.
Next will be Sweet Burley from Jon's Pipe Shop.
Now smoking Sutliff Presbyterian in a straight dark brown and tan rusticated Peterson 2023 Saint Patrick’s Day 264 Canadian with an Irish flag colored ferrule and tapered black acrylic stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
Nearing the last quarter of this bowl of Watch City Beta Test #4 in a dark brown medium bend grain etched 1970s Preben Holm Ben Wade Prominence B freehand with a black vulcanite stem. Getting ready to watch the Braves-Pirates game.
Passing the quarter mark on this bowl of Watch City Beta Test #4 in the third pipe I bought ($1.95), a 1974 smooth straight dark brown French briar Hadley NEBPC apple with a tapered black vulcanite stem.
Enjoying some of Watch City’s Waltham Broken Cake in my Molina Bent Apple briar. A well-deserved 3.3 Pipes rating on this singular Burley-based gem. Do miss my Slices, nonetheless.
The last thunderstorm of the day just rolled through so we put the birds to bed and cranked open all the windows. Now it's time to sit back with GLP géométrie and a glass of Moscato.
Bob's Flake in a MM Cobbit. I've got the holes sanded out in the pipe stand so they're a little bigger. Just a few touch up spots after I make dinner (my sister's moved back to Portland from Buffalo, which is nice) and it should be a fine rack to use!
Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and sugar snap peas dinner with strawberries for dessert. I've nearly finished this bowl of year 2013 Capstan Blue Ready Rubbed in a straight black sandblasted 1924 Parker’s Super Briar Bark 11 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe was made in the second year of Parker production. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.
Good evening gents. Home from dinner out with our guests. So glad they are leaving tomorrow. Basically the wife's friends. They are okay to visit with occasionally but having them around constantly for 4 days wears me down. Relaxing on the patio with CS Northwest Trek in a Pete Derry Rustic bent apple and Earl Gray tea. My last smoke. Good night all.
