It's still raining, and I dried poor Sam the Scamp off when I let him in. He's been snoozin' by my side since then and even through my dinner. I did the same for Abner the Eager, who's snoozin' behind m'lady's chair. Daisy the Feral Princess is playing with a sock.

Enjoyed a tasty Snap Dragon apple, and am near the last quarter of this bowl of year 2012 Esoterica Dunbar in a smooth straight, dark brown early 1960s Lane era Charatan Selected 43 Dublin with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. This pipe was formerly owned by actor William Conrad. Watching a documentary about Benjamin Franklin.

Half way through this bowl of year 2014 Edgeworth Ready Rubbed Match in a 2018 full bend smooth Terracotta Peterson XL315 System Standard military mount with a nickel cap and a flared black vulcanite p-lip stem.

A question for you, sir. Where did you get the replacement stem for that MM pipe? I have two MM Legends, and,even through it can't clench them, I have bitten through the stems on several of their cobs in the past. Any info you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Carl, I also use the Danish stems for purchase from MM, I prefer the amber bent style. The stems are more durable than the original MM stems but still softer than an acrylic stem, and very affordable. Legend cobs are my work-a-day pipe and I understand how easily the original stems break down, I do clench.. The Danish stems have been a good middle ground for me, the pipe in the image has 5 months of daily use on it since the photo and the stem is still clear, has little darkening or discolouration, and has very little clenching damage with no indication of the button cracking or collapsing. I do have a dressier Charlestowne Cobbler and I love the acrylic stem it came with, just so you know I don't have a knock for acrylic stems. I hope you find a suitable solution.

Back from seeing my Godmother, it was a good day - a smallish family gathering to celebrate my Godfather, he passed in early December after two years with progressive dementia. Enjoyed catching up, took the Rattray's along as an excuse when I needed a little time to contemplate and decompress.

Just finished smoking year 2014 Astley’s No. 55 in a 1915-1920 straight smooth dark brown BBB Own Make 150 apple with a silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem.

Tomato the Brave took a snooze on my feet, but woke up when I snapped a photo. He proceeded to do a belly flop. The unnamed bushy tailed striped cat showed up. It’s not as afraid of me as Shy Stripesy (who I haven’t seen in almost three months), but it won’t let me get very close. It knows I’m feeding it, so maybe time will work a little trust and friendliness to its heart.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am near the last third of this bowl of year 2010 Full Virginia Flake in a straight 1968 Dunhill Shell bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Had some drama feeding Sleepy Suzy because Tomato the Brave wanted to eat, too, and neither Suzy or Molly Danger will eat if a feral is near. I put them out, but Suzy was too upset to eat. Well, when she gets hungry again I'll make sure the ferals are outside first. Watching Alias Smith and Jones.

Nearing the last quarter of this bowl of Watch City American Cut Plug Mixture in a smooth medium bend terracotta Peterson POY 2023 X160 464/1100 military mount egg with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Hope I can end the day with this smoke.

A 50/50 mix of 1Q and BCA in a Kaywoodie Handmade. I originally started smoking this mixture as a compromise, it’s about the only thing I can smoke indoors without protest from SHMBO. It’s become quite delicious with strong black coffee first thing in the morning, and I now have several Kaywoodies dedicated to it.

Then Augie and Molly woke up earlier than usual, so had doggies out to do their business, back in and fed before 8. Settled in with Cattle Drive in a Pete system B42 smooth bent apple and a big mug of Costa Rican coffee. Taking the wife down to the Legion for Denver omelets this morning. She needs to get out. Hasn't been out of the house since she got home from rehab 5 days ago. Freaking javelina on the berm last night. Shooed them off once, came back 10 minutes later, had to go chase them off again. Bastards.
