Having some Oriental Silk in the Cobbler. It's cut pretty fine so it burns hot, a little too hot for the Canadian. It tastes nice - citrus, bread, and pepper - flavour and aroma kind of roll over each other. The room note is definitely Va.

Good afternoon BoBs. Something different this afternoon. Rooting around through my stash a couple of days ago I came across a 3 or 4 year old baggie of Peter Stokkebye Proper English. Drier than a nuns sense of humor. Rehydrated it for a couple of days and having a bowl in a Stanwell Brushed Black 1/2 bent apple. It isn't bad but not something I would buy again. Orange spice tea on the side. Maybe mix some with the Melange?

Good Afternoon!
This morning I started with GLP Westminster in an Apple Diplomat and a moka pot of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee. I was texting with a friend and researching vegetable gardening using landscape cloth. I was going to let him do some gardening here but he's lost without the plastic "cloth!" After a shower, trip to the grocery store and afternoon chores I'm enjoying GLP Kensington in a Pride and a cup of fresh pour over Ethiopian coffee.
I would think planting through landscape cloth would be very labour intensive and costly, even if you reuse it. Has your friend considered mulching between rows with straw? It can be collected in autumn and composted with manure. It would also reduce water requirements.

Earlier, I smoked SWRA in a straight black sandblast undated Savinelli Hercules 115EX pot with a tapered black vulcanite stem.

Currently, I have a quarter of a bowl left of year 2013 Capstan Blue Ready Rubbed in a straight black sandblasted 1924 Parker’s Super Briar Bark 11 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe was made in the second year of Parker production.

A couple of minutes away from smoking year 2012 Rolando’s Own in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. Cleaning a few pipes.

Apres diner. No experimenting. Wanted something I knew I would enjoy. So, it's Benediction in a Design Berlin bent apple sans filter and leftover cabernet from dinner. Sun has set but not dark yet. Tobacco and wine is a good pairing. Blue sky but no stars out yet. Good evening BoBs.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, barramundi and green beans dinner with strawberries. I'm close to finishing this pleasantly long lasting bowl of year 2010 FVF in a 2002 three quarter bend light brown sandblasted Ardor Urano Fatta A Mano eight sided paneled shaped bulldog sitter with a black acrylic saddle stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am part way through this bowl of Wilke Wall Street w/o perique in a year 1987 ebony full bend Peterson Mark Twain military mount egg with a silver cap and tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. I got John Brandt to make this for me. It’s not on the menu. Watching one of the older Gene Autry movies.

Winding down for the day with Byzantium in my Cobbler, it's a great neutral pipe for sampling. This blend makes an immediate impression and it's something I've missed since McClelland closed shop. I used to smoke 2050 Oriental Cavendish Mix, a blend that Thomas Hinds called Turkish Evening. This is the closest thing I've found to it in a four year search. I think I'll try mixing this with Smooth Black and Gold Cavendish and see where I land. Now Ranger has me playing with tobacco chemistry ... 🤪

Not far from finishing this bowl of Watch City Queequeg’s Moby Dick Series in a straight brown sandblasted post-WWII family era Sasieni “Canadian” London Made with a sterling silver band with a tapered black vulcanite twin bore stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

So much for last pipe of the day ... I decided to try the Smooth Black and Gold Cavendish in the Cobbler, too. In for a penny ...

@JimInks That's a really nice looking Canadian. I usually prefer them to have a smooth finish and Lumbermans to be roughened, but the mellow stain colour really works for this finish combination.

Thanks. I think the color works, too. I prefer smooth in Canadian/Lumberman/Liverpool styles, too. This one was a gift from a friend who tired of dealing with the twin bore bit. The others he gave me are all smooth like this Sasieni "Canadian".

This is the other Sasieni Canadian that he gave me. It's a Mayfair, which is a high quality second, but it smokes like a champ.

I was up early this morning because I couldn’t sleep, so I checked on the ferals and fed four of them. Daisy the Feral Princess and Tomato the Brave were eating inside without incident. Harry the Hairy and Sam the Scamp were outside. They must have been waiting for quite a while on the deck since it had been raining for hours, and they were dry. Harry the Hairy was the most hungry. I gave him a cup of dry food, and he ate every speck of it. I gave him about two thirds of another cup, and he ate most of that, too. Sam the Scamp did well for himself, too. I went back to bed after a couple of hours.

When I got out of bed to start my day, Sam the Scamp was still around. I let him in to eat, and then he jumped on top of my chair to relax and get attention. Before long, Sam snoozed by my side. After a while, he wanted out. About half an hour later, I was heard a bang or two on the back door. It was Sam. He’s never done that before. I let him in, and he immediately stretched out beside me for a nap. I think he missed me, and the attention he gets.

Abner the Eager didn’t show up until this evening. He ate, and enjoyed a six hour snooze. Tomato the Brave slept on m’lady’s lap for a while and Daisy snoozed on my studio chair most the day and night. When they weren’t sleeping, they took over half a dozen turns wanting to out, and see who they could chase away. They do this all the time.
