I experienced the exact same thing with a tub of SWR I ordered this summer. Completely soured me on the blend. I will not buy it again.
It's a shame how Scandinavian Tobacco Co. destroyed that smoke. I was a faithful SWR regular smoker for years, it was the only tobacco I smoked before I switched to Prince Albert and then other blends. Before the Tucker plant closed I stocked up on ALL the Lane tub blends. I still have a life time supply of SWR regular and aromatic. A friend gave me a 7oz tub of the newer stuff to try and I was disgusted. It was like they soaked the tobacco in vinegar plus it's not the same cut.

I picked up an estate pipe on Etsy and I'm trying it out this morning: a Barclay-Rex author with dual bore vulcanite stem, filled with CS Riverboat Queen. I got the pipe for a good price due to a small chip in the stem. I could be quite content with the pipe as is, but I think I'd like to get it restored. If anyone can recommend someone who does pipe restoration (or warn me off of others), kindly send me a PM. Thanks!

I've used Smokers Haven in NY. They do good work at a very reasonable price.

Decided to go down to the village pub tonight, which has been seasonally decorated, and looks very Christmassy. And now I'm about to fill a Savinelli Rock Grain with some Shepherds Pie and head out to the smokers room. And start getting full of Christmas cheer, even though it's maybe a little early yet 😅

Half way through this bowl of pre-2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Sleepy Suzy has been extra demanding of my attention, and being a cat, she got lots of it. Molly Danger is snoozin' in the bedroom. Daisy the Feral Princess is snoozin' on the couch. Harry the Hairy is eating in the kitchen. Tomato the Brave is enjoying his heated cat house too much to come in. Didn't see Abner the Eager. The rain is probably why.

Taking a break from the rain and smoking Lord Nelson in a MM cob. This rain is not playing with snow just a little higher than me, but I have to get chores done.🌨️🌧️⛈️
Retirement as a farmer is hard work, but I wouldn't swap it for anything else. And as a bonus I can smoke my pipe almost anywhere and anytime I want. Top that off with a great boss that let's me take naps if I want to. Yeah the good life.
Hmmm nap-rain nap-rain......

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am half way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star Hawaiian Kona Extra Fancy, neat, is my drink. The ground is too slick for walking today, and it may rain again, so I'm staying inside. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Harry the Hairy is snoozin' on the cat tree. Tomato the Brave is snoozin' and snorin' on my feet. Gotta have a long talk with that boy. :)

The grain on that pipe is gorgeous.

I have one Falcon and one Pete System pipes. I’m glad I have them but I don’t want any more. Both are decent smokers, however the metal base of the Falcon gets blistering hot. The maintenance on both causes me to pass them over quite often. 2-3 bowls then take them apart to wipe them out.
