Good Morning!
The chores are done on this cold overcast morning. I'm starting off with the usual, GLP Westminster in a bent MM Apple Diplomat along with a cup of coffee.
I may have to include a diplomat in my next cob order, see what all the fuss is about. ;)

I'm having Captain Black Original in the Re-Gent this morning with my coffee.

Earlier, I smoked a bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Chatting with a good friend.

Just finished smoking year 2020 Mac Baren Scottish Mixture in a straight, smooth brown 1960s Lane era Charatan Special 38 bulldog with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Still chatting with my buddy.

Passing the first third of this bowl of year 2013 Rotary Navy Cut in a post-1938 Pre-Republic Peterson Dublin straight smooth X155 bulldog with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite p-lip stem. Nigel Bruce smoked this model in two Sherlock Holmes movies. Please consider asking Shane Ireland at Smoking Pipes and Peterson to bring the pipe back into production. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Cleaned a few pipes, got a few ready for work time tonight, and gave Tomato the Brave a little attention. He has a loud motor.

Having a bowl of C&D Pirate Kake in my MM cob. I went into Tinderbox to get a tin of Wildman and chat with the girl behind the counter while doing an errand.
They had two tins of Pirate Kake and a tin of something I didn't know. Hardly any bulk. She wasn't very chatty. I bought a tin of Pirate Kake out of paranoia. Going to give it a go. Sure smells pungent in the tin. Starting to feel sadness for brick and mortor shops.

@MLBbreton The Thomas Hinds tobacconist in Winnipeg has been in rapid decline for at least 10 years. They were reliant on a large number of McClelland and Sutliff blends. Once a shop with fifty blends to choose from plus tinned tobaccos at least equal to that number, it now has fewer than 10 house blends and about a dozen tinned options. Their pipe selection has similarly dwindled from dominating their shop to a single display of 48 pipes and a bin for cobs. Death by 1000 cuts. The demise of Sutliff tobaccos will likely end their pipe tobacco enterprise and they will serve cigar afficionados alone. Their stock and trade is largely profitable due to a newly licensed cigar lounge serving several of the nearby hotels favoured by convention attendees. I bear them no ill will but I stopped frequenting the shop over 5 years ago and I really don't want to drop in just to pick over the carcass, it would spoil my memory of the place. I began my patronage with them the first week they opened in Winnipeg, about 32 years ago.

Yes, hard times for B&M shops. Sadly, we miss the comrades. I have lots of fond memories.
