What's up, Brother!

I've been in hibernation for the winter! As I am an outdoor piper, it's just been too stinkin' cold to stand outside, or even to sit in the shed. I've had maybe 4 pipe sessions at the cigar lounge by my work, but it's not very convenient to my schedule, plus I always have to buy something there to pay the rent on my butt in their chair.

Looking at a week of 70°+ temps this week, and I'm working from home today, so I think a pipe will be certainly had today.

I've also had time to think about pipes, and I've come to a slow realization that 'sublime smokes' come just as often in cobs as briars, and with $7 pouch tobacco as $25 tins. So I might just enjoy the pipes I already have on my rack, and stop chasing after the 'perfect' flavor of tobacco. I ordered a 7oz can of Velvet the other day to stock up. It was the first tobacco that I really liked.

Working on the Bluff and having a bowl of Amphora Original in an MM General with forever stem. This nice sunny 70 F day is giving me Spring fever.
Man, that was one of the first tobaccos I ever smoked! Not tried that one since about 1972. I'm tempted to try it again. I remember it as a fine smoke.

Good morning,
Smoking a Pete SH Strand with Lane LL-7,Mug of DD coffee. I occasionally smoke Velvet,it`s a pretty good blend if you like Burley. I tend to go with sweeter aromatics. I am surprised to not getting any responses on the Pete Hudson that I am trying to get opinions on.

Well said! I'll have a bowl of Velvet in a cob when I get home from work, Cheers!

Continuing with GLP Westminster, this time in an estate Mastercraft Fisherman. This was a gift from a friend along with a Comoy Prince that I'll be trying out later.

Half way through this bowl of year 2024 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Fed Sleepy Suzy and Molly Danger. Going to see which ferals are outside after this post. It's going to be a very busy day, which is no complaint. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and am smoking year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star 50th, neat, is my drink. Getting ready to clean a few pipes.

Almost hit 90 degrees in Austin today. It’s finally cooling off for a smoking session. Local news on the tube and an old fashioned magazine (The Atlantic) on my lap. A Ser Jacopo Selecta Maxima (Holy cow I did not realize just how much max in this Maxima) with GLP Horizons is ready to be lit. Cheers.

Enjoying some 2015 GL Pease Union Square in a Savinelli Estella 316. As with all GLP blends, this has aged wonderfully. Decaf coffee on the side and some good tunes on the Bluetooth speaker.

@AlphaWarrior Most of the sources I have read concerning the STG takeover indicate Amphora will be discontinued. There is some speculation about the truth of that because Amphora is less costly to produce than other blends STG retained. Unless I see definitive information about it I would still expect Amphora to be discontinued, it may simply be available longer because there is more of it in inventory than other MacBaren blends.

I've passed the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2016 Sutliff 507-C Slices in a black sandblast PSB medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY 4AB No. 228/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This may get me to dinner time. Abner the Eager showed up to eat, and wanted back outside after he finished. He likes the weather, and maybe his other home better since Harry the Hairy isn't there.
