Well I grabbed the Askwith Morta Rhodesian with the Olive wood Cap and white stem to give the newly re-introduced Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture against an 8 y/o tin I was able to procure. My findings are the older one is definitely spicier, fig notes, citrus notes a generally more complex and mature blend, perique stands out but not and in your face type of stand out more as a presence, they burn equally well to gray ash and have some similarities in flavor albeit the new definitely tastes harsher, greener and young to me. The cut on the new is much thinner and the older a beautiful looking tobacco with ample yellow Virginia, there is a marked tin note difference as the older is more rounded in note and the newer thin to my nose. Too soon to know if the character of the new will match the original, my thoughts are it will be nice but not a true match. Going to vacuum pack them both and revisit in a month.
