I've tried to appreciate the lines of the "acorn", but no matter what perspective I try to take, I cannot. It's the bowl/shank transition. I find it almost offensive in most instances.

I find the canadian to be pretty ugly.

Also, I WANT to like a sitter since they strike me as very practical, but I rarely like the look of 'em.

Another vote for (or rather against) pokers and cherrywoods here.

I know some people really love them, but straight pipes in general.

For me it's got to be bulldogs. MIKE

+1 that. I can't stand bulldogs, or calabashes.

This is an older thread, and looking back at the reply I posted last November, I'm somewhat taken aback by the non-committal, political correctness of what I wrote. What I really wanted to say was, "I don't care for military bits, hawkbills and pots."
There, I said it.
Except that I do like Castello's shape 55 pot.
Hmm...

Pipoo?

Ewww!

If that is the future of pipe smoking, I'll stick with the past!

I like to think that I would be able to appreciate any shape done well--no discrimination here! However, I have yet to come across either a Horn or a Ducksfoot/elephants foot that I would own. I've seen some Former horns with amazing grain... And thought to myself: why did he have to use this block of wood to make a damn horn???

 We think alike sometimes!

I don't think I hate any pipe, (well maybe a hooka) but I do prefer bent stems.

...kinda with this school of thought...

On the other hand, though I'm so-so on bulldogs, I rather like the Poker syle and sitters in general. I have no doubt I will enjoy cob pipes, the "Patriot" model I will likely skip, however.

Every pipe has its own interest and charm, I'm just not sure all have a place in my hand nor in my modest collection.

I don't like Bulldog, Eskimo, pickaxe, Poker, skyscraper (stacked billiard) and those with bamboo or square shank pipes, and about 50% of all freehand (free-form handmade) pipes, although I like many asymmetric pipes as they are IMO very lively.

I never met a First Straight Grain Briar I did not like
