What's Your Favorite Peterson (or Any Other) Shape?

Having received a 221 shape recently, and having also the B10 (Calabash), the 03 and the x220, I do admit I have developed a very soft spot for the 221. In an image:



I find this shape extremely well proportioned. Being a Group 4, the size is ideal for me. Its lines make it just so, in a word, elegant.

My favorite shape is the straight billiard, made by someone who knows what they're doing, like Dunhill of yore. But this Pete below is just about my favorite pipe, judging by how often I reach for it. The shape and size are perfect for smoking, and the sandblast and fishtail bit are very much to my taste. I'd buy another exactly like it if I could find one, but this is the last one I've ever seen in this configuration. It's a Sherlock Holmes Squire.

And the one I reach for more than the others is a 999 Flame Grain p-lip. Summat like this-

Although, that one I bought new from the long gone local T-Box back around '01 or so. Don't clearly remember what I paid, but it wasn't too dear.

I notice that a common similarity of our faves is that the bottom line of these pipes is a graceful, gently stretched S. I recently acquired an even more slightly stretched Tomato shape. The pipe is chunky, like a Pete, but the bowl dimensions are similar to a Pot. That S shape is very appealing to my eye, and the shallow bowl is just about perfect for accommodating an amount of tobacco suitable for a half hour smoke out on the deck?

At last count there were 18 Peterson's in my rack, each (despite negatives you may read here and other places) a fine pipe, good smoker, and treasured friend.  My favorite tends to be the latest one added (until it's properly assimilated into the  family at least), in this case my B5...

before that it was this bent pot (shape number?), graciously gifted to me by a member here (shown here pre band polishing)...

and previous, this Sherlock Holmes Moran...

then there's the Mark Twain, the pre-republic pot, the chubby 999, a couple of early systems and any one of several billiards, but my all time favorite may well be this Sherlock Holmes Mycroft...

I have 15 Petersons and several of them are favorites, but I'll post my very favorite, which is a pre-republic X155 bulldog. This model was smoked by Nigel Bruce in two Sherlock Holmes movies, and mine it not only a great smoker, but was a special gift from a friend. The other two pipes in this photo are also pre-republic Petes.
