Why Nike?

I love Nike! I love their athletic shoes, I love their clothes, but mostly I love their advertisements :twisted:

When I played college ball we got all the Nike shoes and gear we could dream of. The year we beat GA Tech and Indiana to go to the sweet 16 we got so much stuff I was giving it away. I always thought they had great gear. It was all in the midst of Michael Jordan being banned from wearing his new Air Jordan's because the NBA thought they gave him an edge. What a riot.

I like 'em skinny, personally. My wife has had three kids and still weighs 124 lbs. at 5'8". She was 113 lbs when were were married and she first got pregnant with #1. Women hate her for being so skinny still. I like it.

I have read that hungry male baboons, given a choice between food and watching videos if female baboon butts, choose the videos.

It's hardwired. (So to speak :lol: )

But what isn't is that the force of "sex" has gotten so used-up by advertisers selling stuff by appealing to it that they're over the edge into porn now in commercials like this one, and it seems to be about the only thing a lot of network TV programs/movies have going for them.

I say it's . . . odd . . . that people who'd stand up for traditional values in a heartbeat . . . don't. Or else keep moving where the line should be further and further.

If there is TV 20 years from now, there'll be 14-year-old girl contestants screwing dogs to win "America's Hardthrob" -- egged on by their stage mothers.

Well, among consenting adults it's all fine, as long as respect is maintained. Appreciating the lady isn't disrespectful, belittling her or dehumanizing her would be.

I miss the point where pruerient interest isn't pruerient interest.

What I have against porn isn't that it's pruerient. It's that it's impersonal. A degradation of the human spirit.

But it belongs in the closet. Not on a billboard or in a magazine. Or on TV.

All the old cliches are true. And that's one of them. C.S. Lewis could get together with his friends, smoke pipes, drink beer and "sing smutty" the way college kids did when I was young ("Oh Charlotte the Harlot's the girl we adore/The pride of the prairie, the cowpuncher's whore") without being a "hypocrite" or any the less a sincere Christian.

That division's there for a reason.

I can separate the appreciation of the female physique from the intent to have it. I can also appreciate it while respecting the person. The dehumanizing of women in pornography is a direct reflection of the weak men who seem to need it, men who can't handle real women so they turn them into fantasies without souls. But, like all other things, it's probably a bi-product of our individual environment. You spend your life around a lot of women and they aren't so scary that you have to create this little fear-free fantasy to put them into. You don't and you're just another guy who can't deal with them, can't understand or relate and adapt your patterns to theirs so you retreat into something that works for you. Porn isn't about women who submit to the fantasies of men, it's about men who can't understand and relate to women.

Appreciating the female form, and the work that it takes to be as fit as the lady in that picture, is respectful and not shameful, IMHO.
