Awww, welcome, Oreo!

Rescues are the best kitties, especially the runts. (Two of our three are runts.)

Here you go, Yak!

I'm not sure of the exact causal mechanism involved, but that has to be strongly and positively correlated with your poor cat's inhaling the fumes from that garbage you smoke.

Also, regarding allergies:

Yes, you may love pets, but there's a balance involved. When you get shots, take pills or other pharma for anything, something else usually is affected. There's really no "free ride" or "miracle drugs." Take for instance, the liver.

I can't/won't own a cat for various reasons, so I live vicariously through my cat loving friends, and I've never had to change a cat box. I do the same with dogs, though I have been known to go out for walks with them. "They're always so good when you get back with them, then they won't listen to a thing I say!"

(...that's because dogs like firm understanding and direction--and I demand respect...silly humans... :p )

Cats decide--you're cool, or you're not. The cat doesn't like me? Fine, miss out on laser pointer fun and scratches. Your loss, kitty.

Not my cat, Yak - I just couldn't resist posting that pic due to the recent conversation about purple cats.

Actually I have a dog that lives outside, as my wife is allergic to damn near everything. If it were just me, then a cat would be fine.

Have to jump into a cat loving thread.

My cat has been with me for 4 years now. She was dropped of at the cat shelter (which keeps the cats until they are adopted) and was there from her second week until I brought her home with me when she was 18months old. Apparently some people do not like the all black putty-tats. Who as the best cat? I do. Of course all cat keepers feel the same way.

Notice I said cat "keeper" and not owner. Like Yak and Monbla have said, cats are their own kind of being.

Bringing my cat with me made my recent move so much easier. She has been good to me and I am good to her. A good cat is a great companion.

My girlfriend and I just adopted this beautiful girl from a rescue shelter about a week ago as a companion for our current cat, Seamus, who has been stressed since our recent move in a major way. They're warming up to each other, Seamus already seems much happier, and she has been nothing but a joy.

Here is Trudy. Ain't she purdy? She makes some of the most adorable noises one could imagine.

Trudy's got a cute face. I like an honest, pleasant cat face.

Beautiful cat. Much like my mi-chan. Black cats really do have some of the most expressive faces.
