It's a pleasant morning in the Bluegrass. I'm smoking KBV Burley Morning Pipe in a Jensen's bent volcano with saddle stem. My beverage is Folger's Colombian. And I'm reading Historical Theology by Geoffrey Bromiley. That's a perfect start to my day. How about yours?

A very good afternoon my friends and fellow BoBs.
A bit of a late start for me today, but now Mrs Z has me safely installed in my den, and I'm about to fill a sterling silver collared Petersons Army XL21 Bulldog from their evening series, with some delicious CS Choctaw gifted by mine, and everybody's good buddy Ranger.
Dang I love this blend.
As always, I wish everyone a great and safe day 😊

Good morning gents. My go to Urban Cowboy in the Lorenzo Old Vic giant bent billiard with CR morning coffee. Chores done, i.e. filled all the bird feeders, played fetch with Charlie. Out to the ranch In a bit for veterans PTSD horse therapy program. Have a great day BoBs.
Hey @Ranger107 I've been thinking of having some of your Urban Cowboy blend that I mixed, because I am craving some Old Dark Fired. Hope things go well at the ranch today.

Good morning, friends!
The wind has mercifully died down since yesterday which made the Captain Black Dark I smoked on the way to work much more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been.
I have got a MM Diplomat at the post office which will be my dedicated aeromatic pipe and I'm looking forward to breaking it in.
I was able to sleep last night, thanks be.

The problem with some "historians" is that they allow their political and social bias to influence their version of history. One of the worst offenders was Nancy Isenberg's biography of Aaron Burr. She found excuses for durn near every bad thing he ever did. That's hagiography cloaked as history. I find Burns is guilty of that from time to time, and he has publicly admitted he has a political and social agenda in his work in the past. Doris Kearns Goodwin, a two time plagiarist who paid bundles of money to those she stole from to avoid prosecution, mixes her political beliefs with her history in spots, too, though she's not as egregious as Burns.

A worthwhile biography presents all sides and lets the reader decide. You've never seen David McCullough, Hans Holzer, Robert Caro, or Walter Issacson shade their history writings.
Jim,

I earned two degrees in history back in the 60's, and it's almost impossible to be completely neutral about any topic one is really interested in. I confess to be right wing in my opinions and attitudes toward the past. That colors my assessments of today's politics very much. Frankly, I rather doubt that anyone being honest with themselves and others would be successful in trying to hide those things. I know I can't.

Starting off my smoking day with a bowl of pre-2014 Edward G. Robinson's Pipe Blend in a 2014 Basil Meadows smooth slight bend squashed tomato with an aluminum band and a black pearl acrylic stem in the military mount style. Watching Mad Dog Russo. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

So it's been a wet and horrible day in England today. Something all Englishmen will be discussing and moaning about in the pub tonight. Not that I shall be debating alongside of them, as it being Tuesday, it's a night of online gaming with friends across the world. But before then, and before dinner. It's time for some Hobbit Weed in a MMCC Country Gent and another cup of Yorkshire Tea.

I never have that problem when it comes to history. I also don't believe one can truly understand historical events without an impartial attitude. If one privately takes a side after consideration of facts, then it's a different ball game. When I read history I am looking to know what happened from all sides of a story, and how past events affected that time period, and what came next. I can figure out my own feelings about the results without trying to shade the truth to others. Using one's bias to color another's thinking in history books isn't portraying an accurate representation of past events.

I always enjoy the thought and composition you put into your photos Swede buddy.
Ah, thanks Zippo buddy. They don't hold a candle to yours, some of which would be right at home in a pipe magazine, especially those with the tampers and other accessories. We are blessed on BoB to have so many great pictures of all kinds of pipes. I enjoy seeing them and learning about other pipes, and must admit I am tempted with PAD.

That's an extremely kind, and nice thing to say, thanks Buddy.
Also I agree with you on our fellow BoBs and the great range of knowledge they share, along with their pictures

Enjoyed a tasty lunch, and have passed the quarter mark of this bowl of year 2021 Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation Evening Flake in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson Ebony POTY 4AB No. 422/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. Gold Star 50th, neat, is my drink.

My background is in literature, a four year B.A. Adv. and my M.A. Two things influence every story told ... the experience of the teller and also the listener. History, art, science, politics: name a topic and the inescapable truth is that the opinion of the author and the reader both inform the dialogue. The dilemma is filtering the bias of both to find fact. Authorial intent notwithstanding, we all read a story and extract different salient points; they are influenced by the individual, the era, and the medium.

Oh, I smoked two bowls of SWR in the Legend at work today. I'm slowing down my work smoking for two reasons: I have run out of codger blend and palate fatigue is spoiling my evening pipe. Everything has begun to taste the same.

I enjoyed a very pleasant lunch and smoked half a bowl of Sutliff Kahlua Amaretto. Its a little less enjoyable than I hoped it would be but its enjoyable for a sweet-tooth pipe tobacco. My issue is that the whole thing is coming together to taste adjacent to birthday cake frosting to my tongue which isn't something I like.

There's truth in what you say, but I still claim pushing any part of history to inculcate a reader with their political or social bias is a bad thing. And impartial examination of facts for whatever sides historical events take can be done if the author wishes it so. I don't subscribe to the notion that my beliefs are important to any biographies that I wrote nor would I inform my work with any bias if I could.

Did a second set of walking reps in the sweltering humidity, and am close to finishing this bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem.
