Any sales going on for Dunhill?

Yeah, you're probably just going to see the usual sales. Actually, if no one announces they're going to pick up the line (like, pronto), it'll go in a whole new direction. Dunhill isn't a name that screams "closeout prices to clear out old stock." More like "the end of an era, premium prices...

    A Mclelleand similar to Nightcap

5110 is a fine smoke...kind of like FM but beefed up. I can't understand any comparisons to Nightcap, though...NC has a fair bit of Perique in it, while there's none in the 5110. YMMV, I suppose, but that threw me.

    A Mclelleand similar to Nightcap

P.M. Pipe or Avenue P.M. (or whatever they're calling it these days).

    What are you snuffing?

It's been a Toque Lime Toast kinda day for me.
  5. idbowman

But which ones do you LIKE?

You either love the South African snuffs or hate them, it seems. I'm on your side, though...really pungent with a nice kick.

Less than ideal temps for tobacco storage

Don't freeze it, don't cook it. Manage that and you'll be ok. Sure - consistent, moderate temps are better for the long run, but it's not going to destroy the leaf. As you're already aware of the problems rapid fluctuations in temp/relative humidity can create with sealed tins, I don't think...

    Got Phished This Morning

I can't believe anyone would ever fall for these things. In fact, I was just discussing how gullible some people can be with this Nigerian prince I've been talking to lately...

    Karma

Trivial, and amusing...but karma is a nasty lady and she's punched me square in the face. My wife isn't exactly technologically savvy. My mother-in-law is technologically comatose. I've been training people on our database system at work all week, and spent the last half-hour having a good...

A minute of silence please, Chuck Berry has passed.

The man is/was a legend. Respect.

HalO the Wind and Old Gowrie FDA dates

OG and HoW will be fine, as will many of the "XYZ Mixtures." They've been around for a long, long time and will be grandfathered in on the new regs. There have been periods where they were hard to get and in low supply, but I'm 99% certain they were never discontinued and then subsequently...

    What are you smoking?

McC Brindle Flake in a Todd Harris smooth bent bulldog. Delicious.

    Question on Cellaring Dunbar

I agree. Vacuum sealed tins are usually fine, square tins can be problematic, round screw-top tins can be somewhere in between. Anything that comes in a bag or pouch gets tossed in glass as soon as I get it - better safe than sorry (and like Coyote said...glass jars are pretty inexpensive -...

15% off Cornell and Diehl Bulk

I'll be loading up on Old Joe Krantz, Billy Budd, and Poplar Camp. I have plenty of each on hand, but it never hurts to lay down some extra bulk of your favorites! Regarding the mold: I know they had issues with some of the small batch stuff, but what's the full story? Is there something of...

    Organization Question

For this with cellars that they'very built up over time: how do you keep your stash organized? I've been organizing based on blender or theme (theme meaning, for example, all of the Christmas Cheers, Pipe Club Blends, show blends, etc that I bought an extra tin of solely to keep as part of a...

    Will Be Missed

I LOVE GregorIan chants, and I REALLY love the 4-part harmonies from the Renaissance, too. I got a lot of funny looks I college, but there was a period where I listened to the Tallis Scholars all the time.

    February's Fabulous Foudroyant Fandangle

Sorry that it all went down the way it did, but very glad to hear your wife will be keeping you in line! Keep yourself well, Oak!

    The next chapter

Congrats to you! And admiration, too - the stress and pressure of that kind of job would do me in (heck, the stress and pressure of getting the degrees and licenses required to HAVE that kind of a job would probably do me in!).

Sales at P&C and SP for the month of March

Ah, yeah - misread that. SP it is (I'm not in the market for the Dunhills at P&C). I'll say it again, though...I have no good reason to avoid P&C in particular. I've been a customer for a long time, and they've always done right by me, even after the ownership/management changes. I know a...
