Well I am back to being one handed again. Noticed a leaking irrigation line on our back yard berm late friday afternoon. Wanted to plug it before dark so grabbed some tools and fittings and went up to fix it just after sundown but still light. After I made the repair stood up and started to turn. Lost my footing and fell forward. Putting my hands out to brace my fall and save my beautiful face, big joke lol, my left hand came down really hard on a sharp rock that lines the berm, called rip rap locally. Anyway, gashed my index finger pretty bad. Would not stop bleeding so wife rushed me up to ER. I thought they would just stitch it up, but the xrays showed I had shattered the bones at the base of my finger. ER doc in Prescott said he wanted to send me to a hand surgeon specialist in the valley. So, after 3/4 hours, they called an ambulance to take me to Scottsdale. Arrived at 4 am. Nurse said they had scheduled surgery for 3 pm. I thought sheesh, I gotta lay around here for 11 hours. Then at 7:45 nurse comes back in, says Dr. Wants to do this asap so we are going now. Into surgery about 8:15 or so, out just after 10, don't know for sure as I was still sleeping off the anesthesia. Made me stay in the hospital for 5 hours for "observation". So wife picked me up at 3, got home at 5pm sat. I was just bored. Wife more traumatized than me even though she is a retired nurse. At least I am getting good post trauma care although a bit awkward trying to smoke one handed, lol. But at least I am able to smoke, which is good ad I can't do much else. Photos attached of the "offending" rock.
