FVF is overrated........

*pauses for a moment, and enjoys the quiet before the storm*

But seriously........ It's good, just not as good as people make it out to be.

Bill

I can't really disagree with bill...

That said, it's good enough to make it worth buying when it pops up, which is why I've got a pound of it on the way from P&C. Lol.

Totally agree. I'm sitting on 1.5 lbs right now and given my latest attack, I decided to pass on this. There will be more. Oh yes there will.

I havent had alot of it, but I was lucky enough to have had a sample sent to me , and it was one of, if not "THE First " Va's I had ever tried.

It was the one that opened my eyes to Virginias, and Ive been trying to try them all, and so far , I like them all,, each for its own characteristic, that matches the mood of my palate at the time.

I doubt I'll ever be one that can hoard some away to age. But you never know I guess.
I just really want to try it again, so I can compare my thoughts on it, now that I have tried and found other Va's that I really like.

To be honest,, My 2 favorites right now are Boswell's Virginia Slice, and McClellands bulk Classic Va 2010.
I'm curious to see if FVF will top my list.

And , Daaaaaang,, FVF sells out so darn quick,,, a guy has to be ready to jump.
Especially when there's those of you that are buying pounds  Wow, thats unbelievable

Ok I better quit yappin here, but I do have to say, it was a heck of alot of fun , getting in on that rush....
Thanks again to those of you that posted about it.

I have a slab of Kendal plug that is a good dozen years old. You open the jar and it is the most amazing smell.... The thing is like a brick, and getting some shaved off of it is like trying to take shavings off of a brick with a pocket knife. Taint easy :x the stuff is good, but sadly has a bit of bite. I haven't tried any in a couple of years. Maybe I'll get the Sawzall out and cut some off.

I can't buy any more tobacco right now. Not until about the first week of Feb (I get paid monthly).

Anyone wanting to...erm... you know...send a wee bit of KP my way to try... um...you know, when...you receive it...

(shameless)

My order came in over the weekend with 2 of the 3 tins being popped open already. I haven't ordered much tinned tobacco online...is that very common? I wanted to age these so I'll have to go the mason jar route.

Wow. That's never happened to me. I'd be pissed.

I've never seen that before. I might give them a call and figure out what's up.

I've never run into an issue with P&C, but nobody is infallible. 2 of the 3 tins though? Wow. I'm kinda stretching here but are they opening tins to sell bulk due to some kinds shortage...

Never seen that before. I'd be pretty upset. Shoot them an e-mail or give them a call. If you intend to keep the tins, just give them a heads up. Otherwise, insist on a refund.

I've been reading about the inconsistency of vacuum-sealed tins, and it makes me wonder if shipping through varying elevations might pop already-weak seals.

Just a theory. It wouldn't do much good for a seller to knowingly (or ignorantly) ship out open tins. It's not something they'll "get away with." I'm pretty sure they'll make it right.

That's what I'm thinking too. P&C offered to replace the open tins but I declined since the tobacco wasn't dried out. It's good to know they offered though.

Not having been here for long and being one of those "old guys" who is not "up" on the latest in tobac, WHAT is FVF? And being an "old Man" can I smoke it or is it only for you younger guys ? :p

I do have to say this about P&C.

I ordered some FVF Bulk on Wed eve and
I ordered some kendal Plug on Thurs morn

They both arrived Saturday,, from New York to Montana, 2 days.

That was the FASTEST shipping I have had on anything in a long time.

I was/ am Very impressed.

Just turned 66 :p Started smoking pipes when I was 19 so I been blowing smoke for over 47 years. :p BTW, thanks for answering my question guys. I'll have to look into that tobac and see how it compares to McC's offerings :p

I have actually had a couple of problems with shipments from P&C but each time they made it right, and very quickly. They're customer service far exceeds their quality control.
