We're in the New Orleans area till Tuesday (North Shore).  We dodged Nate last night, it barely rained.  Now sunny and in the 80's.  

Funny storm, it had no western side.
The "right front quadrant' is the worst part, but that's all Nate had.

Looks like Hurricane Nate missed my brewery folks in 'bama. They had some rain but no wind. So now they need to decide how to proceed down to Mobile and then onto the gulf coast for the remaining leg of their journey. There might be issues with fuelling and marina access as they normally progress about 40-60 miles/day.

They're holed up in Kingfisher Bay Marina, Demopolis, AL right now on the Tenn-Tom waterway. For those that are familiar with the area.

A peerless fall day here in the Pac NW. Sunny cloudless skies, brisk temps in the upper 50's. Nights in the mid-40's.

So good in fact, I had to take a walk around the subdivision to get some fresh air and exercise. Took in our little private park and pond (they call it a "lake" - hah!), met several walkers along the way and a few friendly canine companions. Made me realise once again that I miss having a doggie.

We're due for some wet days ahead, and maybe some troubling wind later this week. Too early in the year for that crap!

Had a reasonably significant fall storm come in yesterday about this same time, with heavy rain and wind gusts around 50 or so. Managed to hang onto my power but many around region were not as lucky.

The coastal and upper Puget Sound areas were most affected, and some are still without power. Frankly I can't believe I never ever had a flicker, but it did get a little wild around here! Just across the valley from me, our brewery GM lost his power. Just a few miles!

The brewery lost power in the first storm a few days ago, but only for a couple hours. These are 3 storms a day or so apart. The one I mentioned earlier was the second one. The 3rd storm will approach us in a day or so, but seems to be the weakest.

Ya, we're entering the wild time of the season here in the Pac NW. While late Oct is generally too early for this crap to be happening, it seems to start earlier every year. Not a good sign going forward.

What a contrast to a few days ago. We're having sun and blue skies in the Pac NW this week, with moderate temps. It does get chilly at night though, and there is some fog in the AM.

But I'll take this all day/every day after the wind and storms of last week. There was even some flooding, but that wasn't in my area (this time). And again, it's waaaaay to early in the year for this crapola!

Yup, it just got real. Got a dusting early this AM, but didn't stick. Daytime temps in the upper 30's and now 34. So not sticking yet, but this will change overnight.

NOAA says to expect several inches between now and Sunday. However it doesn't look like it'll be around for any significant period. At least yet!

Already the pass on I-90 at Snoqualmie Summit has had several inches, and the snow level has now crept down to my elevation. Happy happy, joy joy!

It's far too early for this crap, and I am not amused! And yet the NOAA outlook calls for another La Nina winter, with colder and wetter temps than normal. So far this is holding true.

And I hasten to add that this past winter was one of our harshest yet, in my 30 yrs in the Pac NW! So this does not bode well.....

Brewdude, I'm sorry for your report, but being stuck down here in Georgia, I can't help but be envious. Were going up to 80 this week and I'm just miserable. I'm from the snowy north and I have never adjusted to Georgia temperatures even though I've been here for 32 years. Anyway, be safe and make the best of it... smoke a bowl in the snow for me. :lol:

Ah, yes, snow, I remember that! Get bundled up, put on the waders and fly fish in the crisp air. Always a cold beverage to be had, just by keeping it in the box it came in. No coolers required......

Well, had a couple of close to freezing nights, then 80 and humid. Next day, fog so thick you couldn't see across an acre. Then 45 for a high temp. Tomorrow, 78, Sunday 80+, and then taper down to freezing again by Thursday. Makes a man's bones ache...

Enjoy your snow BD! It's a great time to scrub the fridge and freezer. Nothing's going to spoil outside!

Been watching the snow come down here since mid-morning. The ambient temps have all been just above freezing and that's prevented most of it from sticking. At least on the roads.

Now have about 3" on my deck, and about 1" on the ground. Outside thermometer says 33F. NOAA says to expect another 1/2" tonight through tomorrow, but they got today's forecast wrong. And I normally trust NOAA, but they aren't the final arbiter!

All I can say is that I can't wait to escape to southern AZ when I retire, and be finally rid of snow and cold!
