Second day in the history of the state that we got up into the '90s. Was 95 again but I'm not worried we have no climate change Ted Cruz tells me so

We will be down to 12 Effing degrees tonight with snow squalls all day Thursday and Friday

42 was the high temp here today, Had a campfire out with the critters, bundled up, listened to Mozart and did some reading, sipping mulled cider, and smoking my long maple warden loading and reloading with Grandpa's Sweater. Hot feet, cold ears, red nose day. More tomorrow!

Crap. I will have to BUY wood. No cutting for this kid this season... Ah well, one must help support one's local economy, eh?

On my deck here in Central CT the temp is 32o but 18o with windchill. Sunny, though. It’s an inhospitable day for outdoor pipers. If it weren’t so steenkin windy I’d stoke up a cob and take my chances.

Still sunny with clear skies and 32o, but much less wind, and the forecast calls for moderating temps. So I ain’t complaining.

We got 2 inches of standing snow, 3 to 5 inches in some places in the county. High of 24 night low of 8.

Power now back at home. Lost it shortly after my previous post yesterday due to the windstorm.

55 mph gusts were predicted for my area, and it was every much that during the peak. Fortunately no damage to the house but 2 sections of my rear fence blew down. That can be fixed relatively easy though.

Watched a TV news broadcast at the brewery and they were showing one bi-level home that had literally been split in half by a huge tree. No one was home at the time luckily. Some 12K customers still in the dark in my service area, down from over 100K yesterday. So this was a fairly big storm.

Cheers,

RR

Pretty mild here in my area since the last windstorm a week ago. Actually, areas of the upper Sound such as Bellingham as well as the NW coast got slammed with high winds yesterday and are now recovering. They always seem to get hammered.

Just unrelenting rain for us here in the immediate future. Some local flooding expected but don't anticipate that affecting the brewery.

Snow level rising, which is a sudden reverse from a few days ago. Several of the local ski areas have already opened for the year with a substantial base. So that may affect them. I don't ski and hate snow so they can have that!

The short term temps are expected to be above normal with rain, sometimes heavy. We call it "NW Sunshine".... :|

Cheers,

RR

Another strong low pressure system is set to hit the Pac NW tonight.

Initial forecast looks like the strongest winds will primarily affect the coastal areas in the NW sector and the NW interior of Puget Sound. All of which stands to mean areas pretty much away from my area inland. But the models have been wrong before. Sometimes in my favour, sometimes not.

Did I ever mention I hate this time of year!

Cheers?

Mid 60's today and very sunny, very nice. Love NC for this very reason.

Nowt but rain, rain, and more rain. Day in and day out. Kinda depressing, but that's par for the course this time of year in the Pac NW. At least I don't have to shovel it yet, but that's coming. The upper elevations are getting 6"-12" of that crap just about every day now. Looks like the skiers are happy anyway!

Really been enjoying a high pressure system that has set in over the Pac NW. We've had clear sunny skies since Mon, and expect this to continue through the weekend. Man, it sure is nice to have sun and not rain!

The downside of course, is that temps are below normal with daytime highs in the low 40's and nights in the low 30's. And fog in the early morning.

I'll take that over rain any day though!

:D

Cheers,

RR

Last day above 50 f (54 in fact) for at least the next 9 days . . . might even flurry Friday night :affraid:

6 to 8 inches tonight, temp 16 degrees, wind gusts 35 mph, wind chill -30.....yea!!!! NOT!

Crap Alex, I don't know how you do it man.

Out here, day time 66 sunny, evening low 36.

One good thing about being retired is I don't have to go out anywhere when the weather is very cold or snowing. Today it barely reached 30 degrees, not really cold, but I didn't go out of the house except to let the dog out! Right now it is in the 20's with a wind chill about 13 degrees!
