Again, not sure what you were trying to tell me Anthony, I just wanted to make it perfectly clear, I know that no pipe will be perfect, and I'm okay with that, it just so happens that my erk point is when the stem gets buggered up.
Thank you, and a belated welcome by the way.[/quote]

Then you have answered your own question and their really was no need for all this. Send it back and get on with it. Life's TOO SHORT for all this. Believe me it is :p But with your self admitted attitude towards perfection, you will be living a VERY DISSAPOINTING life . I feel for you . I really do.

Amen to that. 8) It either seems to take age or experiencing severe ugliness for most people to "get" this concept, though. Kind of sad.

:lol!: No-o-o-o-o! This couldn't really happen, could it? This site is a fortress of pure reason.

That would be why I sent it back already for another in hopes of a better outcome. People are forgetting that I was wondering if this type of flaw is the "norm" these days. If it is, I have a problem with it, if it isn't, I still have a problem with it. Didn't say I was going to be a winner in the end of all this.

What I PERCEIVE to be perfection. In the eye of the beholder my friend. Pay attention to the face that I said I have little to know problem with natural flaws in the briar, and it just so happens that me breaking point is a flaw such as this in the stem! If the holes are drilled right and the stem has no friggin' chips out of it, I don't think that's much to ask and to me THAT is perfection. I never said I want the best piece of briar out there with zero fills, the most beautiful grain accented with gold mixed with the blood of royalty. I want what everybody SHOULD be expecting from their pipe maker, or life, and that's quality. There's no excuses, there shouldn't be any settling from anyone and if there is it just repeats what's already been said in that this is only going to encourage companies of any sort to keep doing that they're doing.
I seem like I've answered my own questions because I HAVE. In the time it has taken for this thread to pan out, yes, I've taking ideas of yours and my own and made a decision. Don't blame me that people seem to have the same interest or opinions to share on the subject. It is after all, a forum, right? A place to discuss whatever the hell ya want!
As I said, much like beauty, perfection is in the eye of the beholder and no, I have not and will not lead a disappointing life, in fact it will be the very opposite. I'm one of few left that seem to strive for a world in which people take pride in their product. A fools wish? Maybe, but I'm still going to find what I'm looking for somehow, be it online, in a B&M shop, which we all know is becoming less and less common or wherever I'm going to find what I want, but I will and usually do find it, and when all is said and done I WILL be the happy one.

Right on everybody ! :D And I do mean everybody.

As for my double stamped Petes,,, They are mine, and i do treasure them.

As a matter of fact, Ive had 2 bowls of FVF in my Racing Green 264 today.
and i never even noticed the flaw :D

Hey Rusty,, I hope you get a keeper this time around. And I dont think anyone was pointing fingers type of thing, I just think the topic was one that we all have opinions on, which spread out over a broad area.

SO hey , GOOD Thread :D

Nothing wrong with expectations in a lot of situations and circumstances, particularly in the arena of consumption and product. A healthy market demands it. Context. Context. Context.

I think some generalizations were taken a little out of... *cough* context.

It's the Internet, kids, just remember that.
