It is important to remember that the kukri is a tool of all work, at home in the hills and on active service it will be used for cutting wood, hunting and skinning, opening tins, clearing undergrowth and any other chore. From this it is plain there can be no truth in the belief that a Gurkha must draw blood every time before he may return the kukri to its sheath

Did a second set of walking reps before the rain starts, and smoked a bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Just managed to feed all the ferals with little drama.

I had a productive afternoon after I tore myself away from the Indy 500 qualifying. I just loaded a Rob Roy with GLP Westminster, it will keep me company while I do 5 o'clock chores.

That is the insignia of the Gurkhas of Nepal. Who have fought, and have thier own Regiment in the British Army..Well since like forever. They are a great bunch of lads. And excellent soldiers.

Gurkhas are closely associated with the khukuri, a forward-curving knife, and have a reputation for fearless military prowess. Former Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw once stated that: "If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or he is a Gurkha."

Thanks for the great information Zippo. Have you ever known any Gurkhas? I read what I believe to be a true story of 2 or 3 Gurkhas fighting off a group of robbers on a train, and they only had their khukris. I really like knives, so I bought a khukri from Nepal. It is an impressive knife. I keep it handy for defense. Had to edit and add a picture. I've read that these are sometimes made from old truck leaf springs.

I went to my favorite deli today for home made Pastrami, I came home and made cole slaw and cucumber salad. We had hot sandwiches and salads for dinner. The Pastrami was great,it should be for 28 dollars a pound LOL! It was worth it though.

The missus and Jacksie have retired for the night. I've topped off my Knob Creek Rye, refilled the pipe, and have started listening to the audiobook of Post Captain, the 2nd book in the Aubrey/Maturin series.
