Tonight the wife and I continue a 43 year Christmas Eve tradition of boiled shrimp with tatees and corn on the cob boiled together. I have the Rossi 8616 (like a Savinelli 616 only cheaper and smokes better) fired up with Prince Albert.

I just stepped outside to enjoy two new goodies: Wilke Surbrug's Bestmake in a pre-republic era Peterson "221" Made in Ireland Prince with sterling silver band. I put 221 in scare-quotes because it was the model number used for the Canadian distributor. I'm pretty sure this is the same as the 406 model. This pipe was restored by Kenneth Lieblich at rebornpipes. If you're curious, you can see what the pipe looked like before Kenneth started the restoration: https://rebornpipes.com/2024/11/30/an-unusual-and-beautiful-peterson-221-sterling-silver-prince/

The work is outstanding! I read the whole expose and marvelled at the bird's eye revealed by the restoration. I was equally impressed by the repair to the stem, I would have thought it was beyond recovery. I hope you enjoy this pipe for years to come!

I am home for the day and it went well. My mother's appointment went smoothly and I will ferry her out to my brother's for Christmas dinner tomorrow. My Sutliff order was released by the post office even though they are continuing to track down the SNAFU in their record-keeping. I provided them with all the information I could, I particularly appreciate the courtesy they extended by releasing the parcel. I was prepared to sort it out after the holiday. I also received my shipment from IKEA containing additional tobacco jars and some coat/hat racks for my little house to help me declutter.

I set about storing my fresh tobacco immediately and my Smoking Cabinet (formerly my den/office) is complete for the time being. I had a bowl of Crooner in my Rossi Canadian as I put the final touches to it all.

I wish all of you a Happy Christmas! Peace, Joy, and good fortune to you all, and those dear to you, for the coming year.

Passing the first third of this bowl of Seattle Pipe Club Give Me Liberty in a straight smooth medium brown pre-1920 straight Marechal Ruchon & Cie. Royale apple with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. This will finish the tin.

The son of a neighbor owns an Alaskan Huskey. He got loose and almost got Harry the Hairy. M'lady helped the owner save Harry from the dog. Harry's okay, but he's hiding somewhere. He'll get special attention when we see him. I couldn't help but think of what would have happen had we not found homes for Sam the Scamp or her scampers. Daisy the Feral Princess and Abner the Eager have been inside. Dunno where Tomato the Brave is, but I know nothing happened to him.

Trying out African Queen, an Englih w/o Latakia according to Tobacco Reviews. It is a nice smoke, mildly fruity, with a Balkan touch that I attribute to the Smyrna tobacco in it.Having it in my Brigham bent Dublin with a cafe Cuba. Preparing to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", the original animated version with Boris Karloff narrating. It is a tradition for me and I still love the childlike, surreal style of Dr. Suess's artwork

Settling down for an afternoon of football. Our son is taking the wife out for a cooking glass so this is sounding like a multi-pipe sorta day. Smoking one my mystery pipes (no one knows the logo) I bought at an Olympic event during LA84. G&H Ennerdale. My fave sparkling Richard’s Rain Water (shameless plug for a local upstart) within easy reach.

Hatch, your pipe looks quite a bit like one of mine made by the late Fred Garlinghouse (died 2006). His simple stamp was "Frederick G' as a rule on the bottom of the pipe shank. Fred was known for no fills, leaving a small sandpit as it was. You may find out more info on him on Pipepedia. I have never seen one of his pipes show up on eBay nor any other site. FWIW, FTRPLT

Good evening BoB and a merry Christmas eve to each of you!
I had a pipefull of Sutliff's Vanilla Custard in my MM cob while driving from my home to my in-laws home for Christmas. My mother in-law told me she liked how it smelled.
While watching some Christmas movies after dinner, I bought a good amount of tobacco for myself as a Christmas present. A pound of Sutliff Virginia Slices and a pound of MacBaren Plumcake to age along with some other odds and ends.
Bless each of you and I hope tomorrow is a day to be looked back upon fondly for years to come.
Until tomorrow, good night!

Enjoyed a little low calorie snacking, and am near the last third of this bowl of Watch City English Ernie-ental in a straight dark brown and tan rusticated Peterson 2023 Saint Patrick’s Day 264 Canadian with an Irish flag colored ferrule and tapered black acrylic stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Watching How The Grinch Stole Christmas. The Grinch was a patron saint of honor until the last few minutes of the cartoon.
