Heard that story to Mike. Its a myth.
It is important to remember that the kukri is a tool of all work, at home in the hills and on active service it will be used for cutting wood, hunting and skinning, opening tins, clearing undergrowth and any other chore. From this it is plain there can be no truth in the belief that a Gurkha must draw blood every time before he may return the kukri to its sheath
That makes sense, myth busted (y) butttt if he was really, really, really, angry

Whaddup good people. Cuppa mud - industrial grade. Chill jazz meanders through slanting rays of sun on a bluebird morning. Birdsong and carefree ramble are in the air. As is the savory smoke from a rusticated half bent M. Tinsky dublin/cauldron soliloquy in briar. GLP Sextant is today's offering to the gods. As the morning slips slowly into itself I begin to more fully appreciate the simplicity and magic of a good navy flake. It's like finding a warm campfire of friends after a long, harrowing journey. There is both relief and joy; there is gratefulness; there is incredulity; and yet I find there is also a certain audacity here, one that seems rooted in reconciling that I am in fact worthy of such a degree of complete and total bliss. So it goes. Cheers to the day, boys. We are indeed worthy.
I'm glad to see you posting smokes. We can always use good company.

Did a second set of walking reps before the rain starts, and smoked a bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Just managed to feed all the ferals with little drama.

All my LJP is gone!! Then "And So to Bed" in my high grade Posella F1 SG trumpet/dublin with plateaux top. Appropriate cold IPA brew to help me cool off!!! FTRPLT

Swede my friend , hello Buddy.
That is the insignia of the Gurkhas of Nepal. Who have fought, and have thier own Regiment in the British Army..Well since like forever. They are a great bunch of lads. And excellent soldiers.
Next paragraph taken from the net.

Gurkhas are closely associated with the khukuri, a forward-curving knife, and have a reputation for fearless military prowess. Former Army Chief of Staff Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw once stated that: "If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or he is a Gurkha."
Thanks for the great information Zippo. Have you ever known any Gurkhas? I read what I believe to be a true story of 2 or 3 Gurkhas fighting off a group of robbers on a train, and they only had their khukris. I really like knives, so I bought a khukri from Nepal. It is an impressive knife. I keep it handy for defense. Had to edit and add a picture. I've read that these are sometimes made from old truck leaf springs.

I went to my favorite deli today for home made Pastrami, I came home and made cole slaw and cucumber salad. We had hot sandwiches and salads for dinner. The Pastrami was great,it should be for 28 dollars a pound LOL! It was worth it though.
Smoking a Pete Strand with MB 7 seas regular and a mug of DD coffee from the french press.
Jim, the Yankees are hot right now! It was a good game.

The missus and I worked outside today. I planted a small vegetable garden and mowed the yard while she planted flowers. We went out for a quick supper at Fazoli's. Now we're relaxing with drinks and listening to the "Jazz in the Background" playlist on Spotify this beautiful evening. I'm enjoying Sutliff Rum & Maple in a Hardcastle's Crown bent billiard with saddle stem.

The missus and Jacksie have retired for the night. I've topped off my Knob Creek Rye, refilled the pipe, and have started listening to the audiobook of Post Captain, the 2nd book in the Aubrey/Maturin series.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and green beans dinner with strawberries for dessert. Just finished smoking year 2012 Rolando’s Own in a smooth straight early ‘60s Lane era “William Conrad” Charatan Executive Extra Large stretch apple with diagonal channel cuts on the lower right and left of the bowl along with a black vulcanite double comfort saddle stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. The Braves-Padres game was rained out, so I've been watching the Angels-Rangers game.
