After a bit of lunch I'm back on the patio. I'm enjoying Watch City Rouxgaroux in a Barling Sovereign bent acorn with saddle stem, a cold beverage, and a book.

Enjoyed four open face egg, ham and cheddar cheese sandwiches with a golden elicious apple on the side for lunch. I'm passing the first third of this bowl of year 2020 Pfeifen Huber Virginia Golden Flake in a 1938 smooth straight brown patent Dunhill R 115 bowling ball apple with a tapered cumberland stem. Gold Star 50th, neat, is my drink. Just finished cleaning a few pipes. One of my work pipes needed a serious cleaning, too. Still watching the Mets-Phillies game, but if it's not over by the time the Braves and Nationals play, I'll switch over.

A quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2013 Stonehaven in a straight black sandblasted 1957 Barling Exel 249 Fossil T.V.F. black billiard with a silver banded military mount and a black ebonite tapered stem. It's time for the Braves-Nats game.

Had to laugh at "Euty"! 😄
Very aussie I love it  like There is common usage of the diminutive forms of people's names; Hargrave → Hargie; Sharon → Shazza; Clark→ Clarky; Wilkinson → Wilko; John → Jonno; David → Davo; Hogan → Hoges; James → Jimmy → Jim → Jimbo; Benjamin → Ben → Benno; Barry → Bazza.(y)

A quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2020 Watch City Rouxgaroux in a smooth medium bend 2021 Peterson POTY Natural 4AB No. 6/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem.

Got 22 years on you but yes I would still stand beside you to defend our country as long as I am able. But like you I am skeptical about the younger generations resolve to step up if necessary.
I think the powers to be might be worried also. They are proposing Nasho service in the UK https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-05-27/what-is-rishi-sunak-plan-for-uk-national-service/103896120and over here and recruiting non citizens. https://www.contactairlandandsea.com/2024/06/04/adf-now-recruiting-non-citizens/Not a bad thing.
Eligible applicants from the UK, US and Canada will be able to join up next year.

Singed,

I'm 79 and served in Military Intelligence in the years 68-72. I never heard a shot fired in anger or saw combat, but I'm happy that I got to serve in an
"important" job and capacity. I, too, wonder how we could fight a major war without going back to the draft.erd That worries me, too.

Best,

Carl
Carl, did 2 black ops missions in 67 to 70. The intelligence we got from you guys was invaluable. Everyone in the military is important no matter what your job was or your MOS. Soldiers gotta eat, they need supplies, they need air cover. When it cones to war all jobs are important.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, two swordfish steaks and green beans dinner. M'lady is making strawberry ice cream. I've passed the half way mark of this bowl of year 2013 Capstan Blue Flake in a straight black sandblasted 1924 Parker’s Super Briar Bark 11 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. This pipe was made in the second year of Parker production. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Watching the Dodgers-Yankees game.

The strawberry ice cream was terrific. I'm almost half way through this bowl of year 2018 Sutliff Dunhill Elizabethan Match in a straight smooth brown 1960s-70s BBB Own Make 506 Canadian with a sterling silver band and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Going to work soon, and will listen to the rest of the ball game when I do.

Now smoking Wilke No. 72 in a pre-1974 dark brown straight Larus & Brother Co. Signature billiard with a nickel band and a tapered black vulcanite stem with the initials LCR on the top of the stem. This blend was smoked by Walter Cronkite.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am smoking year 2020 D&R Raccoon’s Friend in a pre-1980s straight dark brown Comoy's Sandblast 186 billiard with a tapered black vulcanite stem. Working and listening to The Green Hornet from my radio collection.

Enjoyed a little low calorie snacking, and am a quarter of the way through this bowl of year 2022 Watch City Blue Ridge Special in a straight smooth ebony post-WW2 LHS Sterncrest 91 bulldog with a sterling silver band, a diamond shank and a tapered black vulcanite stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink. Listening to Mr. President from my radio collection. One of the two announcers was William Conrad, who also played one of the characters in this episode.

Just finished smoking Wilke No. 515 Double Shot in a smooth dark medium bend 2021 Peterson Heritage Brown POTY 4AB No. 45/500 military mount with a silver cap and a tapered black vulcanite AB stem. This is No. 515 with twice the rum of the Basil Rathbone blend. Been reading baseball box scores and traffic copping hungry ferals. No Abner the Eager the last two days. Harry the Hairy begs for my attention, and while I like the little fella, I wish he was nicer to the cats. Daisy the Feral Princess, Tomato the Brave, Sam the Scamp and her scamper are their usual selves.

Near the half way mark of this bowl of Hearth & Home AJ’s Vaper in a pre-1952 Sutliff Falcon 372 (made by Comoy’s) smooth light brown straight bulldog with a tapered black vulcanite stem. I'll end the day with this smoke. I'm back to reading box scores after taking care of Sleepy Suzy and Molly Danger.
