    Retro-haling

I did a video on various smoking techniques a while back (Retrohale, french inhale, etc.)

    Broken Flake # 7

I'm glad to inspire TAD! That's one I didn't pick up. I hope you enjoy it!

I'll trade you some 2045 for a few oz of each then! I'll PM my mailing info. ;) :lol!:

    McClelland 2045

It seems completely different from the 2020, and Stokkebye's Turkish export and C&D Orion's Arrow. Maybe I'll enjoy it more if I'm not expecting something else.

    McClelland 2045

I just had my first bowl this morning. It really strikes me as an aromatic, which is not something I like. It was very sweet, and the pinch of latakia and even the oriental flavor were in the background, supporting the sweetness. I didn't mind the latakia being in back, but I wanted a stronger...

    been pretty busy

I think that last one has the most promise. If you get a stem to match, it'll be a looker!

    Interesting observation

You definitely learn more about the subtleties by smoking similar blends.

    Pipe Smoking 101

From the article: I think a lot of people forget this and think only aromatics are cased. Edit: and people use casing and topping interchangeably, which are helpfully differentiated here.

    My Favorite Lakeland

I just made a big IPSD order last night, so I'll be learning what my favorite is soon. I got a bunch of GH&Co tobaccos, the scented ones include: BB no. 2, Ennerdale, Kendal Flake, Glengary flake, Brown flake scented, Scotch Flake, and Bosun Cut plug (labelled unscented, but the reviews say it...

    The end of an era.

It's hard to pick up on things over the internet, so I had hoped the winky face would convey that intention. I have a dry sense of humor anyway, so should probably not make jokes online. I was also keying off of the whole 'worth more than Penzance' comment. I've seen 8 oz bags go for $120, so...

    The end of an era.

Apparently I'm a tease because I jokingly offered $300 for it.

    The end of an era.

Thanks for your generosity, but I'll pass. I don't want to fall in love with it and lingering in the back of my mind every time I pick up a pipe, "it's good, but it's not OD."

    The end of an era.

I'll give you $300 for that pound! ;)

    The end of an era.

I was thinking about giving Storm Front a try and O Dusk looked really goo, too from TR. I was disappointed when it wasn't on their site. It's funny how a blend with such high ratings would just be discontinued.

What's up with Lakeland Brickle Fortissimo?

I highly doubt they'd fire up the press just for one special order. If it were a simpler blend, maybe. Russ was going to do a run of our club blend, but he was too busy to fit it in his schedule, and it wasn't even pressed.

Is Stormfront really the best Burley blend?

C&D Also make 4 different Burley Flakes (numbered 1-4). I liked the bowl or two of #4 I tried.

    Mac Baren HH Latakia Flake

Does the steam pressing also do something? It seems like ODF doesn't taste quite as dark-fired to my palate, though I absolutely love the blend so far. I need to smoke more of it, though.

    Sam Gawith Virginias

Sorry, I just shipped that one. Personally, I prefer narrower-medium bowls that are a little taller for VAs.
