The box has come and gone. Was crazy busy all week so I had to rush this morning to make some picks and takes, hope I added something to the combined effort. It certainly is a daunting thing when you sit down to it. Got some smokes to get me down the road to my meeting this week! Yahoo!

Sampled:

Anniversary Cake
Pirate Cake
McClelland Dominican Glory
Petersons Sherlock Holmes
SG Best Brown Flake

Put bulk samples (roughly 2oz each):

Dunhill Early Morning Pipe (Lane bulk)
McClelland 5100+5105 blend (roughly 2 years of age on it)
Stonehaven
Early 1970's era Walnut (From a tin I opened a couple of months ago, give it a try, not like today's Walnut)

Took tins:

50g Orlik Golden Slices
50g Petersons Irish Flake
50g Dunhill Light Flake

Put tins:

100g McClelland Christmas Cheer
50gm Escudo
50gm Dunhill My Mixture 965

Plus: Sealed box/pouch - Phillip Morris Revelation from 1970's (It'll make you as smart as Einstein)

I had meant to add that I opened an identical pouch a while back and it was still moist and fresh like it was only a few weeks old. I expect the one I put in the box should be the same.

Happy, when I saw your post I knew those would be on my short list of picks, turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. Thanks, they will be enjoyed and appreciated.

The box has arrived safe and sound (a bit dented but none worse for wear)

Breaking it out now and planning my attack - going to be a busy week as I already see a few dozen I need to sample - really great stuff in here, both samples and sealed tins.

Just spreading things out and seeing what's here will take me an hour this evening - I will post an update once I dig in.



Grabbed out a quick bowl of Dunhill London Mixture to help hold me off for the next 30 minutes... Tin is a bit dry, but tasty nonetheless

Sorted through the box - packed a bowl of Strav's Private Stock and Patriot Flake along the way

Pulled out the sealed tins, and sorted the baccy into two piles - things to try, things I am familiar with already - about 50/50 - not bad at all

Box on arrival:

First peek on opening:

All the sealed tins:

my "things to try" pile, open tins in the back on the left side - (sealed tins also in the picture to the right)

safe in the cooler - all the "been there, done that" tobaccos

and finally, everyone at home in the cooler (all but the sealed tins), safe and waiting to be sampled

will post an update as I smoke my way around the box...

The Patriot Flake was a bit sharp, but nice and slightly nutty. A less than careful approach led to a touch of tongue burn, but strangely enough the Strav's seemed to "miraculously" cure it. Strav's seemed nice, but unremarkable other than it's absolute smoothness (never developing, but always pleasant. Will try Strav's again to see what comes of it...

Still working - once I wrap for the night I will be taking a more serious dig into the baccy's - for now I will just pick

This weekend I am planning on full devotion to the box Something it most certainly deserves seeing the journey it has made and al the kind hands that have filled it...
