I used to do the pipe thing in my 20s. I haven't used tobacco for around 30 years untill I started smoking Cigars for about the last 3 years. I just started back on pipes because they taste and smell better to me and the wifey is much happier, altho I still torch a stick every now and then.
SO......I have a question for you vets about the more popular tobaccos in tins. ( I have only used drug store and some bulk). The B&Ms around do not carry any save for a B&M in New Haven and they are limited to Dunhill and one other, Mc... something. I would like do an on line order however I am in need of HELP. I would like to try English, and Aromatic blends rather than Sweetened stuff. So if you guys don't mind shooting a few of your favorites and good sorces to purchase them.
I would be a Happy Camper.

I think I posted this on the wrong forum (in the welcome page).

Can you say NOOB 8)

Mars cigar and pipe is a good source and much to chose from. Look in the Commercial section

thanks for your assistance,much appreciated.

pipesandcigars.com dealt with a shipping issue in a way that showed their true colors; they went out of their way to make me happy. That is a vendor that really won my heart, and I generally look there first.

Haven't had a bad experience though, and I also like smokingpipes.com and 4noggins as well as a couple others.

Thanx C&D I'll check them out also.

So many to choose from

Try Presbyterian Mixture, it's readily available. Tastes good, too.

Don't look down on the Dunhill blends. They are very tasty. I am a fan of Nightcap, the Standard Mixtures, London Blend and others.

Recommendations. English. Which covers a lot of ground. You could include those commonly referred to as Balkans. Nearly all contain Latakia in varying amounts. Most are unsweetened. They will contain Virginia's. Some have some burley and perique. Maybe some cavendish.

There are so many blenders and brands. But let me recommend a few at the top of my list. GL Pease Meridian, Chelsea Morning, and Key Largo. They are all similar, yet different. The Key Largo may suit you to a tee. It has some nice cigar leaf in the blend without being overpowering. Understand, these are just a very small amount of choices that are similar. GL Pease has many more to explore. And we haven't even gotten to any other blenders yet. Well, except for the mentioned Dunhill's.

I do most of my on-line ordering from SmokingPipes.com. I would recommmend that you order the complete C & D and G L Pease inventory. Any you don't like or don't have room for you can ship to me. Just trying to be helpful. 8)

Thanx Carlos, I know what you mean about choice, that's why I appreciate all the input. At least it gives me a place to start.

Hey Centuran, if it wasn't for the fact that i'm retired AND have a wife, I would do that for you...... LOL

Thanx for the recomendtation.

I have had good luck with all the etailers. MARS Cigars, Smoking Pipes, Cup O' Joes, Pipes and Cigar's, Smokers Haven, Georgetown Tobacco, LJ Peretti's, direct to C&D, I could go on. All have their strengths, and some stock more items than others.

Don't get hung up trying to find some of the exotic, rare and over hyped blends.
We can find as good of a tobacco as any of the over hyped, nonexistant blends...try small samples till you find what you like.
I'm fully supportive of those that collect, smoke, cellar and deal in nonexistant :) tobaccos. I have a couple of the old tins myself.

I frequent a Cigar forum and run into the same type of people that also collect, I just smoke what I have
and don't get that involved . I have never tried any other interesting forms of pipe tobacco other than the usual chopped and shredded stuff, the usual commercial culprets you find in the drug stores. Not to say they are bad, just lookin to try different ones.
