Nadishana "Zero Density". Check out the website at nadishana.com. If you've never heard a RAV Vast Drum before, he is the best.

Boz Scaggs - Silk Degrees

I removed the youtube link I had, whoever uploaded it to youtube did a terrible job, cut songs, too many ads, etc. It's a shame because this is such a splendid album. You can listen to the entire album on youtube, but only in the form of a playlist.

Been listening to Game of Thrones soundtracks. There are few soundtracks I enjoy from start to end. Escape from New York. Halloween III: Season of the Witch. A couple that instantly come to mind, but there are few. They're usually good for a track or three, and that's it. I can listen to Game of Thrones soundtracks like I do albums. It's nice.

Here's a sharp nod to Westerns and Hollywood's soundtrack for Native Americans at 2:00, when the Dothraki archers stand in their saddles. I love that transition from pounding drums to smooth strings and brass. Maybe also a nod to the Comanche? Not sure if they were known to be great archers, but I believe they're known to be preeminent equestrians.

Really have been enjoying "The Bottom Dwellers" lately. It's a new album that our own Drums & Beer sent me recently, and in fact is his own band.

It's a C&W genre, all original compositions, and all the musicians are top-notch. Great vocals/harmonies, the steel player is outstanding, and the side men are no slouch. The arrangements are strong, and the lyrics are compelling in a story telling way. D&B (Chris) is the percussionist and he and the rhythm section are solid.

There's 16 tunes on this CD and none of them are "B" sides (to use an old term if you get the reference). I love all styles/genres and this one hits the spot for me.

Call it Outlaw C&W, modern C&W, or whatever you want, but there's steel guitar, fiddle, 6-str electric, acoustic guit, upright bass, drums, organ, piano, and some I'm forgetting. A way great ensemble totally dialed in.

I sure hope Chris makes this available soon because he's got a home run here and I'm privileged to receive an advance copy gratis!
